Evening all Fabbers… not really new to the Fab scene however new to being a hot tub owner.. maybe I’ve moved up a swinging bar along with my healthy Pampas grass along my frontage… so how are we overcoming the cost of heating since October 1st?? Maybe increasing invites to party’s to keep the tub warm??
Any ideas please share x |

If you know what your doing
Could get a couple off car battery’s and rig them up to a solar panel
Or charge them at cheap rate ie 1-2 in the morning
And then rig them to power the hot tub
Know a couple off people who run they full house off a Battery bank off car battery’s
They have a beaker switch to ground cut the flow off main power and run off the battery’s during peak times and then recharge the batteries at like 1-2 in the morning off peak |

I don't know about saving money on the heating of the water, but that part of the machinery required to make all those lovely bubbles can be easily dispensed with if the participants each eat a good helping of boiled cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower an hour or so before entering the tub. |

Just converted mine to run off the boiler via a diverter valve and heating exchanger.
Gas is 25% the cost of electricity per kw, heats 4 times faster and si is easier to reheat when not used as often during the week.
Only draw back is it Costs about £300 for the kit and you need space and plumbing and electrics to set it up.
Estimate payback is about 200 days fingers crossed. |
