My team Villa are playing Chelsea tomorrow.

We've struggled to break down poor teams like Leeds and Forrest but hoping that against Chelsea, thing will be different. They play a more open game of football, so theoretically there should be more gaps to exploit along with counter attack play too.

Oxford Utd here

Not having the best of seasons so far and a defeat today could see us in the drop zone, could be a blessing in disguise and force the boards hand and remove Slippery Karl from his 'managerial duties'

He's been dire all season and last part of last season, lost his way and run out of ideas, too much waffling and bullshit from him so it's time for him to go

Definitely not and I don't think we can judge until next season and how we push on. With the fixture congestion, we also need to hope it doesn't completely go to shit this season, although a United/Arsenal title race would he cool to see again

I think we (Man City) have mixed up the team too much with buying good players of football but cant play good in a team that has no experience playing together. We seem to buy players but then dont give them enough play time on the pitch aand then wounder why these players are not preforming to a good standard. The first goal for man it'd shouldn't have been allowed, who else agrees with that? We will have better luck next time

Nah, a goal every day of the week"

I agree

(Never actually saw it - but it sounds like a goal!)

Yes, it was at least 2 meters off side. I wonder why it was given.

Because he didn't touch the ball and was deemed not to have impacted the city defenders in his offside position.

I dont agree with that though, i cant see how the defenders werent impacted by his position and his run. He was right in the middle of it all and the pass was even meant for him as well ffs

Looks like the Chelsea transfer policy is “ look who Arsenal and Brighton want “ and basically pay over the odds to try and get them!

I am trying to work out how Chelsea are bending the FFP rules to afford everyone on the planet at the moment

Yes, the first goal was controversial wasnt it and yes, same. I dont agree with it either and it seems that the goal was given by var, despite rashford being in an offside position.

Actually I found out what Chelsea are doing and it a trick they did in US ice hockey years ago before the NHL banned it….

Basically they are signing players to super long contracts (above the normal) to spread out the transfer values longer to keep them in FFP compliance

Basically on your normal transfer they are normally 3-4 years contracts with an option to extend by a year if the club wants to

What Chelsea have done with the last two transfers is they have signed a 35 million defender from Monaco on a 6 1/2 year contract plus options, and the mudryk deal looks like it’s going to be a 7 1/2 year contract plus option… meaning for the purposes of FFP the 100 million transfer fee is spread across a longer period

The reason why it was banned in the NHL is that it got to the point where it was being abused and some superstars players were signing 12-13 year contracts so the salary cap/ FFP rules were being met….

Legal but not really ethical so to speak

Cant imagine a lot of players would be too keen to sign these extra long contracts though, makes them harder to get a move away if things dont go well.

More agro when his agent itches for a move in 3 years time and they moan how hes being 'held to ransom' by the club because transfer value is still so prohibitive due to number of years still left

Really looking forward to next week's game. We have Palace first to get through which will be tough despite it being an opportunity to rest players. I think Arsenal will sneak it though as they are in great form and at home as well.

He really has, I thought we would be coming 6th or 7th this season so to be comfortably in the top 4 at the minute is brilliant and a far cry from our first 2 games. Casemeiro has been a revelation in out midfield and Ten Hag really looks to be getting the best out of everyone. Long may it continue!

Very unlikely. He rejected us once when he went to Dortmund instead he'll cost a bomb when we desperately need a proper striker. Oh, and because we've been so shit with our money, there may not be a big enough budget due to FFP rules

Nothing wrong with a bit of optimism and enjoying the results. At the end of last season, we thought we needed a whole new squad so to see us having these results so soon, has been a really nice surprise

Dalot has been one of our best players before he got injured, Maguire maybe needs to be sold as he doesn't fit our system and have every confidence in EtH to get the best out of Sancho. We've have plenty of false dawn's over the last 10 years so plenty of tests still to come, but it's definitely been a rare bright period

Yeah but thats never the case is it, thats just fan hysteria. You were never as bad as was made out, just as youre not as good as being made out right now.

Spend the amount of money you lot have over the last few years and youre bound to be knocking around the top 4 eventually, thats only bare minimum

To be fair, the money we've been knocking around, we should have been challenging for the league. Just the money was spent awfully a lot of times so we found ourselves with rebuild after rebuild and last season really epitomised how awful we were. Lowest ever points tally in the prem, first time without a positive goal difference, interim managers, broken squad, leaks to the press etc. It looked grim which is why we're probably enjoying this more than we should
