Late dinners increase obesity risk....
Jump to: Newest in thread
Scientists have found that meals taken at 10pm instead of 6pm can increase hunger and reduce the number of calories burned.
It is thought that late dining has an impact on the appetite-regulating hormones leptin and ghrelin.
Researchers from the US conducted lab tests on 16 obese or overweight patients as part of the study.
Lead author Dr. Nina Vujovic said: "Eating four hours later makes a significant difference on hunger levels, the way we burn calories after we eat and the way we store fat."
Health experts have long warned against the dangers of late-night snacking and hope the findings can shed further light on why the habit causes chronic diseases....
One for you Gremlins don't feed after midnight.... |

I think it's like anything it depends on what the rest of your lifestyle is like. If you are fairly active and have a good balanced diet but eat late I don't think that means you are going to get obase just because you eat late. |

Most hot European countries eat later. I've gone out to eat in Greece at midnight before.
Obesity is only becoming a problem in those countries with more processed food being available.
I'm classed as obese but I have rugby player thighs.

Your metabolism is roughly 15 percent slower when you sleep than your usual BMR when you're awake so naturally you will put on more weight if you are consistent with eating late as well as not having an active lifestyle.
6/7pm is my sweet spot for last meal before bed. Then I won't eat anything until the morning, unless I wake up in the early hours, I'll nab a bit of a protein bar |

"At the end of the day, it is calories in v out. I eat a big meal at 10pm and I still have a 6pack "
Can I safely conclude from that if I start eating at 10 pm, I will be getting a sixpack as well?

Seriously though - you are absolutely right the bottom line is calories in versus out. |
