A box at end of your bed

I used to have a huge layout in the loft at my old house spent 10 years building it, sadly had to dismantle and sell everything when I moved house.

But I have always been interested in models be they Airfix kits when I was younger or RC planes, cars, boats and trucks.

Have to admit at times I do miss running the trains and building the layout, I found it very enjoyable and relaxing.

Not all that North of North London

Did you watch Alex Brooker last night? Absolutely brilliant TV?

I love them, wouldn't have the patience to build one but absolutely love looking at them, so clever

here & there

We can appreciate the time that people devote to their hobby - some of the dioramas are amazing!

The closest we come alas is a train around the Christmas tree!

I still have my first train set. It was a christmas present when I was 4 years old. It still works! Classic 3 rail track and my young nephews are fascinated by it. Hours of great childhood fun.

I used to have one when I was a kid, but at over £100 for an engine I can't justify it, lol. I do have some old modelling stuff to get rid of though.

Ha, ok, go on then. At the risk of losing all my street cred and killing the endless stream of messages from single ladies, I'll out myself here

As someone said above, very expensive as a hobby these days.

Yep, it's my more vanilla outlet to keep my imagination, energy and need for a perfectly ordered world satisfied. Its a world where you are in full control and can be creative with it.

It's surprising how many of us there are on here. Over the years I've come across a fair few are into it or their partner is into it.

Currently in construction, it's a real work of passion.

Plus as an added bonus My Girl gets to come to model shows with me and flirt with the Special men like me (as she like to put it)

The Hornby community went into mourning a few months ago with the death of Bernard Cribbins.

Those of a certain age probably remember the adverts he did for Hornby in the 80s.

I reckon OO gauge would be a good starting point and for the brave souls how about O gauge or even G scale?

Then for the more adventurous there is the ride on versions that can handle multiple people...
