(Late!) Weekly Mental Health Check-in 5.10
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hey everyone,
Sorry I missed the check-in on Monday and didn’t manage to revisit the thread the week before. I’ve been super stressed about my son’s surgery and yesterday my mum had a colonoscopy and they’ve found something that needs urgent investigation - biopsies we’re taken and she’s now waiting for scan appointments. She’s the primary carer for my dad who has Parkinson’s. I live over two hours away, my sister is local but is going on holiday on Friday.
It’s all just feeling like a bit of a nightmare and I’m switching between wondering how I’ll cope and feeling strong knowing I just have to.
I’m going to leave it at that for now. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure whether I’ll feel up to commenting on other replies here this week but I know there’s a lot of support on this thread and I’m sure you’ll all be there to support one another if you feel able.
Sending lots of love to everyone who needs it x |

Sorry to hear about the current situation.
It’seasy to say, but I think it’s a case of taking small steps at atime like this.
One thing I think a lot of people who struggle with anxiety find is that get very worried about the smaller things/issues in life, yet find a lot of strength to cope with the big things. |

Massive hugs for you.
Other than your sister I hope your mom has some kind of outside support. That’s my professional & personal feelings bundled together.
Be kind to yourself xx.
I understand as I’m 2.5 hours away from my parents who both live alone (divorced) so I worry almost daily. |

It’s so tough isn’t it?
My mum’s not a people person! She speaks to her sister (my auntie) and we’ve just persuaded them to have carers in once a day for my dad starting next week. It’s been a battle, I’m relieved they’ve finally agreed.

Hi all. Sending hugs OP, that must be really tough, but its great that you talking about it.
I posted last week that i was struggling, and was also super stressed about something at work. Well, last week it got so bad that i had to make the decision to not do the work thing as it was just making me more and more ill, to the point where i was seriously close to hurting myself. Feel better now that stress has been lifted, and have also told some of my friends and family that im not doing well. Still waiting to be seen, but am getting closer and closer to getting some help, so thats what i am holding on to x |
