I used to make my tea: tea bag, milk, sugar, water and it used to be really bloody white and tasted fecking awful (I thought at the time is tasted lovely) the doughnut taught me how to make a proper brew.
Although usually I do whack the milk in before I take the tea bag out |

"Sugar, milk, teabag water.
I know, I'm an animal
I don't even think an animal would drink that tbh "
I know that is why I drink coffee, I make tea like that to stop guests overstaying their welcome |

It makes no difference to me anyway... I drink both coffee and tea black with no sugar! I have my coffee as strong as possible and my tea I just leave the bag in.
Try it for 1 month and milk and sugar in them will taste foul. People buy expensive coffee and tea and spoil it with milk and sugar! The majority of people in Germany don't own a kettle they all own coffee machines. No one has milk and Italy.
When I'm in my tent and ran out of gas I just have instant coffee with cold water. |

"Tea bag , sugar , water , let the tea bag sit for a minute , splash of milk then remove the tea bag. Best cup of tea ever."
I leave tea bag til the end . Letting the herb melt for ages. Very strong , very active
No milk accepted;) |

Ah, I see where you've bern goimg wrong. Your tea will taste much better if you put the milk in never.
So it goes:
1) Make proper leaf tea in a pot;
2) Leave for 3-5 minutes;
3) Pour into cup through a strainer;
4) Add the NO MILK;
5) Drink.
I have the honour to remain,
Yours, sipping his Darjeeling like some lonely Maharajah,

I actually feel sad for you right now. Couldn't imagine not having a cuppa, even when I'm in the dance studio I have a pot of tea whilst everybody else has their part deconstructed tea. |

Both that’s what makes it the best as you can’t put tea into them |

Noooooooo milk after for coffee "
The pouring of the water acts as a stirring of sorts when poured after. Saves me the hassle of stirring |

"If making tea in a tea pot then milk in the cup 1st, then tea. If tea bag in the mug, then the milk in after tea bag has soaked for a few mins and removed "
Exactly the same here!!
If it’s a pot of tea then I can add the teeniest spot of milk in the cup first |

100% accurate and while for the most part people should not be shamed for their actions. This sequence of events is certainly something that shaming is justified for. |

I've discovered that Tea Threads on the fora make for a wonderful filter for any potential paramours.
Thanks to this one I've added a few notable candidates to my Hotlist; culled many from my Hotlist because of their tea-making idiosyncrasies and finally blocked a few tea renegades who have totally desecrated the tea-making 'artform' by adding milk first!

"Am I the only person that puts milk in before water when making a good old cup of tea?"
No, many of us know how to make a cup of tea the correct way. Anyone who does know how much milk to put into a cup shouldn’t be allowed to use a kettle or be near hot things
These are the same people who pronounce scone similar to gone |

"Am I the only person that puts milk in before water when making a good old cup of tea?"
Wrong on so many levels
Milk first was only a thing to cool the water down to stop the cheap pottery of the day cracking
Once pottery had got its act together that backwards use of milk was outlawed
Teabag, water, milk once brewed.
Teabag out before the milk as the milk stops the brewing
If milk in before the teas ready you get a weak arse tea fit for the sink plug hole. |

Let’s go to Starbucks for a coffee. They put their milk in first, then the ground coffee and finally water.
Oh wait no they don’t, because that’s the wrong way to do it. And impossible to achieve the correct temperature to actually get the flavour out of the coffee.
There is a saying: “There’s no right or wrong way to do things”
However today you are just plain wrong |

People started putting milk in tea to protect fragile porcelain cups that would crack if boiling tea was poured directly into them so milk was put in the cup first to cool the tea as it was poured so milk first us actually the correct way to do it. |

What's this idea of milk or water? Tea is made in a teapot! The decision is whether to pour the tea before or after the milk into the bone china tea cups. Then none, one or two lumps added using the silver sugar tongs. And stirred with silver spoon - care, handle will get hot much faster than stainless steel rubbish. |

I'm both a coffee-head and a tea enthusiast, with about 70 different varieties of the ol' char to hand.
I've always put the milk in last, as it ever so slightly changes the taste. Putting boiling water directly onto dairy produce will make it go slightly off in the process, so it's best to add it after the tea has brewed.
This is in direct contrast to the quote from Kenneth Williams in Carry On Up The Khyber, saying the the British ignore all political outrage, but: "...put the tea in the cup before the milk and they go berserk!" |

"It’s been scientifically proven that Tea is better when you pour milk in after..
The fat molecules in the milk can block the holes in a tea bag, trapping said tea inside. "
Agreed, the tea bag should be out before the milk goes in. |

Had this debate a few years ago with an old friend who is something of a snob.
He accused me of being a ‘council house yob’
as I put the milk in last.
Imagine how crestfallen he was when we discovered that historically only poor people put milk in first. It was to protect their cheap / poorly made cups from the shock of hot water.
I still remind him to this day. |

If you live in a really hard water area, then milk first can stop the little floaty bits you sometimes get on the surface. But I don't live on such an area, and as such it's obviously an abomination to consider milk first. |

But this was when tea was brewed in a pot. You cant brew tea in a cup with milk already in it. |

Also milk is poured In last because it stops the release of the tannins of the tea, avoiding the bitterness that comes with prolonged brew or time if you leave the cuppa for too long. So milk only should be added once the tea is completely brewed to our heart’s content, not before tea even starts releasing its thing |
