"I went after a guy who dropped some documents a few weeks ago. He was really grateful because they were important. When he said that I pretended 'hilariously' to snatch them back. "

Few years back I left my wallet on a beach in Newquay and someone mailed it back to the address on my ID. Really lovely of them.
I’d have probably done identity fraud.
Kidding

With the amount of TikTok videos where someone drops money and the finder often ends up getting a bigger reward for returning for “Views”. I’ll be chasing people down with any money they dropped too |

There are good people out there.
A local coffee shop was about to close it's doors last Saturday for the last time due to spiralling costs when the CEO of a large company who grew up in the area told them to keep trading and he would pay their electric bill for the foreseeable future. |

I doubt they'd have accepted them in lieu of the king's coinage |

I'd give it back because I know how important money even a fiver can be in someone's life. Its not mine,I didn't earn it so why would I think about keeping it when I saw someone drop it and I know it's theirs. |

There is a legal aspect to this. Unless you believe that which was dropped was abandoned, then taking and keeping it is "Theft by finding".
Cash is very unlikely to be considered to be abandoned so picking up and keeping the £5 could lead to you being in court and getting a criminal record. |

We tend to judge other people by our own standards, meaning that if you don't believe that people are for the most part good and honourable, then that's because you yourself are not. So check yourself! Just saying |

Listen, I literally had no money, none! I was helping out at my friends pizzeria and I found 20€ on the floor in the stock room. I took it to Gessika (The owner/friend) and said someone had lost it. People work hard for their money!
They were really shocked as they knew I was skint. I was getting a pizza for helping out so I was ok for food. What goes around comes around. |

I lost my purse and didn't realise until a lady knocked on my door with her son to say he found it when playing.
I gave the lad the £20 cash that was in there grateful that I got my bank card, driving licence and expensive Radley purse back seemed like a good deal to me, he told me he was saving for a computer game and with my £20 he had enough. There just isn't enough kindness in the world IMHO
If I found money and knew who it belonged too of course I'd give it back. If I didn't know who's it was I'd hand it in or donate to charity. To keep it wouldn't feel right |

If you found a random note on the floor then finders keepers.
But if you see someone drop thier wallet and deliberately pick it up and pocket the cash then that's theft in the eyes of the law and of most honest folk.

O once saw a tourist leave their bag on the Bankside wall whilst taking photos of London Bridge. I snatched it up, and chased her down, gave it back to her. She was grateful probably went away with a better opinion of Londoners off the back of it (I'm not a Londoner btw), but I also heard someone gasp as I appeared to leg it with it, and they probably has a worse opinion (or maybe a confirmed one?) from the same act. It's all about your viewpoint isn't it. |
