What was your favourite music style of the 70s.

Glam rock, disco, punk, new wave, prog rock, two tone.

Mine was punk fresh fast and changed the music scene forever.

West Wales and Cardiff

70’s soul, particularly the socially-conscious stuff from the earlier part of the decade.

Thinking of the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Syl Johnson, Esther Phillips, Donny Hathaway, Alice Clark and Gil Scott-Heron.

I do like punk, heavy rock etc, but the above stuff feels a lot more powerful to me .

couple, us we him her.

A decade of music with vast genres.

Example:

Same decade

Seasons in the sun.

And

Friggin in the riggin.

However I would have to say disco

It was joyful music designed to make you feel good and dance.

Maybe it was just painting over the cracks of a broken society but I guess that's where punk found it's home highlighting everything that was wrong at the time.

I wish music still had the ability to make such a difference today.

Interesting shout.

I saw a great talk by Bill Brewster where he argued disco was the most misunderstood genre, with so much beyond the cliches of Afro wigs and flares. Loads of great, pretty unknown tunes.

Definitely punk.

Was listening to the Jam , in the city album

earlier from 1977, I always thought they were Mods but the music sounds very much like the Clashes first album
