I have it in both ears. I just live with it. I find it's as variant as people.

I went to ENT they did tests...... they said I can hear everything bar a few very high notes which is normal for most people....

They gave me leaflets.

I'm considering making trumpets out of them.

Wait for the ENT referral to go through, they'll investigate if there's any cause, if nothing found then they may recommend some tinnitus therapies, like white noise masking. Unfortunately tinnitus is there to stay once it appears, I can go into the ins and outs of it but its very long winded and varies from person to person as to why they get it.

If you've been referred to ENT you haven't got tinnitus. I've lived with condition all my life, chances are you have fluid build up in inner ear, it's quite rare, be ready for lots of attempts to clear it before they reach for the operating table....for which I'm due my 3rd op next week

I have it ,l struggled at first especially sleeping .try listening to ‘white noise ‘ as it helps. But the thing that helps me the most is staying hydrated, not sure if it’s a proven fact but for me it definitely helps.

Try not too focus on it as it just makes it worse.play music or have the tv on low.

distraction is key .hope things improve for you.

He'll likely have been referred because its unilateral tinnitus which does need investigating and is referrable to ENT about if there's no other underlying cause like a high frequency hearing loss or wax build up.

I have it and it drives me nuts at times, it's because I have a high frequency noise damage loss from previous work situations, so my brain tries to fill it in, I'm used to it now and can block it out most of the time unless it's really quiet. If it causes you lack of sleep or distress stick with the ent route and take any therapies they offer to help.

"Thank you"

Attitude is key

Don't try to ignore it either, or pretend it's not there.

Just accept it's there.

If they can fix it.. great! If not just carry on with your life

I've had it since 1997

I've had it for years in both ears. I'm pretty good at filtering it out now though.

I have had it in my left ear . Comes and goes but the more anxious the worse it gets

I have managed to ignore it now but took me a while to get my head round it

I feel more relaxed now and have accepted it as part of my life until they find a cure

Certain foods can make it worse and some can help reduce the noise too

Do your own research and try eliminating or adding some foods

Had it in both for 20 years. I hate it. There have been a few posts here over the years, so perhaps worth a search.

Different people benefit from different strategies. Mine can be made worse by prolonged and/or loud noises, so I sustain a protective approach, to stop it getting worse for a while. I also minimise stress, which otherwise seems to make mine worse too.

I found that alcohol and stress can make my tinnitus worse, when it affects my sleep I play gas jet white noise from you tube.

Good luck getting it under control
