We’ve had some amazing adventures that started with just a wink…

It’s how we met as well..

Does anyone really respond on here (Yes I am doing it now)?

I like to wink, don't like copy and paste, but possibly 1 in 10 messages get a response, so how many can you possibly personalise?

A wink is suttle and always welcome from me.

We read the profiles of all winks, but only wink a small percentage back.

We've had meets that have started with a wink.

We've returned hundreds of winks and they haven't followed up with a message.

We give and receive winks. If we're 'winking' here it's us giving positive acknowledgement without the small talk (something lots here want to avoid)...we receive winks in a similar vein unless accompanied by a message elaborating on the 'winkers' feelings/sentiments etc.

And let's face it, many of us here enjoy a wink on a Saturday morning! X

I think they're a perfectly reasonable means of saying "heeeeey" and maybe starting up a dialogue.

Others think it's lazy, that's fine, but ya know, come on, as frankie says, calm down.

We give and receive winks and have had some good meets from them.

I think it's a good way to say your profile caught my eye, if they wink back we'd message.

I have and we met and had a great time.

A wink from a couple, or a woman, is sometimes all you get simply because they don't have to try harder.

We look at winks occasionally and if one catches our eye will wink back. But have never had a message from said winkee so what is the point

I have messaged 2 men back who winked at me first. Both resulted in great meets.

We wink if we are attracted to a profile to see if they return the wink, if so we will message. To be honest we thought this was the purpose of it, kinda like a soft way of showing interest. But doesn't seem to be the way a lot of people use it, like if we return a wink they don't message. So why did they wink us first? Are we doing it wrong?

Winks are harmless.

It’s like that (old fashioned?) glancing smile at someone who catches your eye on a pub.

Used correctly, they can be brilliant.

Profile 1 sends wink to show interest.

Profile 2 checks them out, doesn't appeal so ignores, or does appeal and so wink back.

Profile 1 takes the wink back as an invite to open conversation.

Then instead of sending copy and paste, or a simple Hi, or whatever, they spend a little time composing an attention grabbing message.

I don't get the viewpoint that they're lazy, I think that's either through a lack of understanding or entitlement.

We have some and it worked out ok once.

What surprises us is people that wink and have no pictures and a “fill in later” bio

Usually just wink back for lols.
