then the alternative is plants that taste like meat. If they vegans then why the enjoyment of the pretensions behavior? Wouldn't it be more prudent to stick to your beliefs?

I been vegan for a bit x
Vegetarian for years .
And yes it gave my head in they call products stupid things .
Like :
Vegan chicken - what that all about ?
The chicken was vegan? She only at corn n tomatoes n fruits ? 
Yeeeess we know chickens are vegan unless u feed them processed .
And brake the soya bean to make tofu and soya chucks …
Why don’t just eat the whole bin and have both in 1 ?

A lot of green peas and a lot of beans .
I respect the animals . And the reason why was because of anti - slaughter …
But over 18 months of thinking …

Ales are a problem. Vegans cannot drink them as they are clarified with a fish based product. (Lagers are not.)
But I do know a number of vegans (and vegetarians) who happily ignore this.
The problem with vegetables (though I love them) is not so much taste as texture. That is the main aim of meat substitutes, to provide a satisfying chew. |

Other clarifiers/finers to watch out for are egg and milk as well as isinglass
Taurine is mostly synthetic now, so red bull is vegan.. Probably not what your pussy needs tho
I imagine a lot of vegans who consume said drinks are simply unaware of the myriad of additions to watch out for, it is a bit of a minefield |
