It's likely to be Russian action, so it's silly to ignore the obvious. Could be other things or states.

Don't think it would be Russia: On the basis, why would they blow up an oil pipeline which was devised to take oil from Russia to Europe.

Could understand it if Russia was to sabotage the new Norwegian pipeline. Best guess is the yanks.

Quite obviously the war monger yanks since they're selling us liquid gas at hugely inflated prices..... Yep didn't know that did you.

Someone did it on purpose. I personally don’t understand how Russia gains from it, they can just turn the tap off. One this is for sure, there are much more complex manoeuvres happening than the simple “Ruskies are the baddies…” trope…

And America (yet again) isn't funding and supplying a proxy war destroying someone else's country in the process. Its not right what Russia has done but make no mistake the scum bag Yanks and NATO are responsible for all of this. Do not believe the lying Western media.

Spot on. The yanks only care about profit and power. They do not care how they obtain it.

If the USA isn't responsible, Biden has dropped them in the shit..

7th February 2022:

Pres. Biden: "If Russia invades...then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."

Reporter: "But how will you do that, exactly, since...the project is in Germany's control?"

Biden: "I promise you, we will be able to do that."

Creating an opening in the market and screwing Russia at the same time, what's not to like? I still don't think the US did it though. Historically the US is perfectly happy to let the European Continent fight itself.

how so hitting the pipelines will increase market prices. Hence everyone in Europe will start complaining about even more price hikes.

with the pipelines out of action and America shipping over lng and the prices will increase doesn't take a rocket scientist

umm you do know we don't have the lng capacity to ship. The terminals are pretty much no existing compared to oil.

Please forgive my ignorance but if it’s coming from Russia why don’t they just “turn off the tap” ?

Surely that is a better option than having to spend millions on repairing the pipes in the future.

Genuine question

Bloody good job it's gone. Save us from the stupid buggers that think they can throw Ukraine on the scrap heap and keep buying gas from Putin. Maybe our useless bunch of tossers in government will be forced to get fucking moving with more renewables, insulation programmes, reducing unneccessary travel, and generally making do with less of destroying the planet.

The beginning of the end, do you see the relationship between this Russian administration being cordial enough where supplies are not used as a weapon…. Plus the push to end reliance on fossil fuels anyway

They will always play the “plausible deniability” narrative… just like they do for example with shooting down MH-17…. Or for example russian exiles deaths on foreign soil

Of course it’s not us!

Russia wants to play the victim.

We invade your country because we are threatened then all we do is steal four provinces and move the border 50 miles. Erm sorry Russia, but do you not still have a border with the same country you felt threatened by? They invaded Ukr on a pretext and will stick by it like they did in 2014.

Moving to the present, Rus would not turn off the tap as it would break international agreements. But this way they can claim sabotage from Ukr backed organisations against their infrastucture, play the victim and more importantly affect the lives of millions more people by restricting their flow of gas.

Those very people are then expected by Putin to lobby their governments for peace.

That's how a Russian thinks he can use you against you to benefit him.

The "tap" has been shut off for weeks if not months for "maintenance" anyway on both pipes, so they can and did do just that.
