"Even lidls own is over 2 quid a packet now ffs! A year ago it was a quid. I might have to choose... Butter or jam. "
Two things we won't compromise on are butter and coffee. I'd sooner have butter than jam |

"That butter is butter. Anything else like lurpack etc is not butter, about a quarter of it is oil.
You can buy it in a block with no added oil
Then that's butter
true!"
I'm now wanting buttery toast |

I use butter in all my cake making but it is getting rather expensive now, as all my cakes are give aways to friends and relatives I think I will slowly cut back on how many I make. |

I live on the border of Normandy. The local butter is so good you could almost eat it by itself, especially the lightly salted version that has grains of sea salt in it. That on a very crispy “Mayenette” small baguette is a meal in itself. I wince when I see the price of butter now |

I don't eat it from a spoon. Just small amounts on the tip of a butter knife while idly chatting at the tea table. My mum once substituted margarine to see if I noticed. |

Love butter. Shouldn't, do. Proper butter though; no compromises. I'm doing a butter board for the next dinner party I host, alongside a cheese and fruit one. Butter is almost as good as cheese. |

"The original new zealand anchor butter.
I do wish they would import it back instead of the uk anchor version.
Otherwise its president butter.. "
Anchor is one brand I hate - tastes artificial in some way to me. |

Oh I think I’d have to tear off small crusty bits from the loaf and then slather it with a big blob of butter - very sensual activity. |

Maybe try using margarine that's purposefully for baking? I only ever use real butter for making butter icing as the price is so much more than marg.
But margarine is only for baking, we use real butter for toast etc. |

"Has to be real butter. Better than all the margarines out there that have all sorts of dodgy ingredients in."
^^^ this ... in moderation it's better than man made spreads that your body doesn't know how to process |
