Surely shops are allowed to sell what they want. If you don’t like their food now go elsewhere?
Do they put sugar in coffee? Most places you add it yourself? |

As somewhat of a Greggs connoisseur and someone who lives in the birthplace of Greggs I can honestly say I have never heard of someone putting salt on anything from Greggs. |

"As somewhat of a Greggs connoisseur and someone who lives in the birthplace of Greggs I can honestly say I have never heard of someone putting salt on anything from Greggs."
Hello.
I don't like carrots, swede, sweet potatoes, as I like my savoury food to taste savoury and not sweet. |

Cool story. You still don’t need to put salt on a Greggs. |

"Does Greggs food not already have enough salt in it?
No! And I'd like the choice.
"
The salt in the processed items (sausage rolls etc) would be quite high already. It's their choice not to provide salt and your choice if you still want to eat there I guess. |

Imagine if chippies remove salt...
Remember the shift from full fat milk, then the non consentual down grade to semi skimmed milk? Imagine what it's gonna be like when all pubs, cafes and the like only used skimmed milk in those hot drinks.
Where is the choice? Try finding a place that serves coffee with full fat milk.
It's the fat that does the whitening. |

I'm a salt fiend too. The problem with the UK is the ingredients in everything that are basically just random chemicals.
It seems like people are against salt but willing to pile down anti freeze and stabilisers and a whole other mirage of weird and wonderful.
Ps - don't attack me I eat whatever I want and you should too

I don’t have a problem with it. I would rather these companies producing food were heavily taxed for putting so much unnecessary and unhealthy stuff in our food and drink. The thing is, if sugar and salt was reduced gradually eventually people wouldn’t notice. We managed before we used to have it.
How can it be right that a bottle of flavoured water has 17 teaspoons of sugar in it. 17. That’s excessive by anyones standards surely? |

Ah salt the secret to hot fast food fries...just ask for fries without salt, they then have to cook them fresh. Same with burgers just ask for them without ketchup then ask for sachets of salt and ketchup hot burger and fries every time |

How much sugar is there in the Costa Christmas drinks? A lot, that’s how much all unnecessary. You should be able to add sugar after, not have drinks with sugar already in them.
It’s the same with cold coffees from supermarkets. You could stand your spoon up in those. Sooooo sweet. It’s just unnecessary.
I’m just randomly picking on everything now |

Some fish and chips places stopped having salt on the counter few years back and was an outcry. I do like salt in moderation but not sure I would expect Greggs to have it around though don't really go so perhaps they sell things that you might need some salt for, pepper too perhaps? |

Nooooooooooo they taste of artificial sweeteners and guff. I don't drink fizzy drinks often anyway, but on the rare occasion I do, I'll choose regular Cola (the red one). Pepsi of all types also tastes awful (to me). |

this loss of choice is bad new both for tastebuds and your health.

It’s so silly as most salt and sugar is already in the shit they & others produce like white bread, margarine, fizzy drinks, biscuits etc, it’s not in the added it’s probably gonna kill you a few days quicker that’s all |

It's the artificial sweeter that will get me, by irritating the stomach linings. My blood's been tested 4 times this year and it's on the lower end of normal, so I'll sprinkle away.
As for white bread: it's healthy if you've got any bowel disorder as too much fibre is very dangerous...to white undies. |

When visiting a bakery or Macdonald's steal as many salt, pepper, sugar sachets etc as humanly possible.
Over many months your pockets will bulge with the stuff, then you happily have your own secret stash.
Make sure you empty your pockets before going into an airport or you'll have the embarrassing moment of emptying them into a plastic tray with a disdainful look from the security person. |

Haha, probably down to me.
Can't help it, genetics.
My old aunt used to steal the salt and pepper from the table when we took her out to a restaurant.
We took her to the same place and told them beforehand she would slip them into her handbag during the meal and we'd pass them back when leaving.
The staff loved her coming and thought it was brilliant watching her squirrel stuff into her bag.

"Surely shops are allowed to sell what they want. If you don’t like their food now go elsewhere?
Do they put sugar in coffee? Most places you add it yourself? "
So if you can add your own sugar to coffee to make it how you like it, why can’t Greggs sell salt so people can salt their food to how they like it? |

"Wait... I'm confused... Can you just not add your own additional salt over it yourself after purchase? the choice is not removed from you, they just don't provide it as a service."
Don't go making sense on here please.

There can't be many cafés and restaurants that don't offer salt |
