Tinnitus

I was at Pride Saturday, had a great day. The drinks were flowing and I never noticed how loud the music was. I was right next to a giant speaker dancing the night away.

Once I got home I noticed a ringing sound in my ears.

Has anyone given themselves temporary tinnitus ( hope it's temporary) and how long did it last for?

My husband suffers with it permanently he's got hearing aids for it. It was through working with loud machinery in his younger years.

If you are struggling to sleep with it. Wear ear plugs the soft type, this will help. The specialist at the hospital recommend this now he wears them for sleep all the time. Hope it does clear.

Had temporary tinnitus loads of times from gigs and clubs when I was younger. It'll last a couple of days.

Now I have permanent tinnitus which just turned up one day.

Wearing earplugs just makes tinnitus louder though, there' no background sounds to drown it out

The Town by The Cross

I've had it so long that I barely notice it unless everywhere is silent.

It's got a mind of it's own and operates on varying frequencies.

I'd pay a bundle for it to stop though as I hadn't realised that 1. I speak loudly and 2. I can't handle anyone talking to me while there are other conversations in ear shot but that might be to do with not being able to block sounds out other than the tinnitus.

Thanks guys for your posts.

I usually swim at least once a week and I am getting restless to go now but didn't want to aggravate it.

I've just googled it and you can also get swimmers ear...who knew!

So much makes more sense now.... I am going to invest in some earplugs.

Oh Gran...mine is fading and I really hope it doesn't come back!

I feel for you....I haven't looked into it but have you tried treatments for it?

I briefly noticed a head set and a tongue piece that give off impulses to correct it.

Titz Towers, North Notts

As the great Ivan Brackenbury says:

'The people in the tinnitus department are very busy today, they say the phone hasn't stopped ringing.'
