Plus she's a princess so gets special treatment! Otherwise what's the point lol.

I've known a couple of women with acute morning sickness that has lasted the whole 9 months. They were given medication and told to get on with it.
Great news for the Royals tho and hoping for another bank holiday next year |

She has the worst type of morning sickness that's why she is in hospital, and why would the media mention every woman who had morning sickness?? I expect Kate and will would have probably of liked to have kept it private for a bit longer, but as they are in the media spot light they were probably advised by the royal aids to make an announcement to stop any speculation.
My daughter was hospitalized with acute morning sickness for about a week as she was very dehydrated |

I'm not saying it's not awful she is Ill I just hate the fuss as it's fairly common for pregnant women to get morning sickness as I said before I also had it and know what it's like. yes it's great she is pregnant but it's just my opinion that I don't like all the media fuss over the morning sickness. |

maybe the 'get over it woman' was more pointed to 'get over it media'
I dare say the year she has had with the press and pictures of her, she doesn't really want it either... |

Why it's called morning sickness is beyond me..... Afternoon and evening sickness should be in there too.
I always used to be a tea drinker, then fell pregnant.
Have never drank it again as it made me so ill.
Just the smell of it made my tummy turn.
Mind you i'm a veggie but the smell of warm sausage rolls and bacon cooking used to make my tummy rumble |

Because for one reason or another they are famous and such stories sell newspapers and magazines |

Acute morning sickness can lead to critical dehydration in some cases, it's not unusual for pregnant women to be admitted to hospital and be put on s drip for days...even weeks.
Should all these women also 'Get over it'?
I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be in hospital if she didn't need to be, and I'm also pretty sure she wouldn't be there out of choice. |

It's another ones of those stories that's not important and not only has the purpose if distracting from the big important issues like jobs and the nhs. But also gives your typical british person who had no sex life and sees sex as a taboo something to gossip about and say to their mates "oh av u heard them to have been naughty and dirty and she might be up the duff" who gives a fuck I don't all I can say is I have nothing against them I hope they have a great sex life under all that pomp and circumstance and think there good people who would be welcome to swing with me and my gf anytime. But as for the press I wouldn't wipe my ass on em. |

Acute morning sickness can hospitalise lots of women....she is being reported as she is a royal who is carrying a future King or Queen.
I am guessing the rest of the pregnant ladies with morning sickness are probably not being reported about as they wouldn't be of any interest to most of the population.
Hopefully none of your family will get acute morning sickness ( although they should rename it all day sickness) but I doubt you will be saying "get over it" if they did. |

I was the same admitted and put on a drip and I think sometimes the media goes ott but if its heighlughtibg a condition some expectant mothers may think is the norm then it's a good thing my pal also had it didn't do too much about it and ended up collapsing she was so ill that she ended up with kidney failure the baby sucked all the goodness out of her 6 months later healthy baby boy was born 3 months later sadly my friend passed away will never know but the hospital said if she had seemed help sooner and they had admitted her earlier her health problems could have been avoided !!!
I remember all the hype when jade goody was diagnosed with cancer and look how many thousands more women went out and got smear tests as an after effect, it may not be news to everyone but possibly someone |

Yep - agree here. I've known a few women have hyperemesis gravidarum - and all were hospitalised with it and on drips because of dehydration and lack of nutrition. The mother and the baby's health are at risk in cases like that.
I had all day sickness with 2 of mine from about week 7 until the day I gave birth but that's not the same at all - would never class that as acute/ severe and, yes, I just 'got on with it' My sister, however, was one of the hospitalised cases, rapidly losing weight (and slim to start with) and health without hospital intervention |

They had some doctor on the TV this morning that said there is no such thing as acute morning sickness.Thousands of women get pregnant everyday its just boring English press that have to keep going on about it everyday..i mean on TV they are already trying to guess names ? It can also lead to long term kidney damage, it's not unheard of for some women to be left on dialysis after giving birth.
But hey....any excuse to bash a member of the Royal Family
I'm not a Royalist by any means, but I also don't have an underlying envy or hatred of them....as many on here do as I can see. |

Funny how there wasn't this much uproar when prince Philip was admitted for a bladder infection earlier this year
Unless any of us know them personally and therefore are aware of the ACTUAL story behind what the news are reporting then all I am hearing here are a load of old fishwives moaning on about how things were so much harder in their day |

the doctor on this morning reccommended any woman who is constantly sick in pregnancy for more than 24 hours must go to the doctor as it is dangerous..
younger woman may not be aware of such dangers and get told by others its just morning sickness get over it.. its good to have things brought to peoples attention... regardless of how it is done.. |

I had what she has. Was kept in on a drip for 5 days. And I was 'readmitted a few weeks later and kept in again. It's actually really bad. And it's different from normal morning sickness as in its all the time.
Oh and she isn't under the nhs but it's the same treatment. Or at least was for me.

I was very poorly when I was pregnant and in hospital due to morning sickness. Had to be put on a drip for 5 days and had vitamins and suppliments through IV. My iron levels were very low too. I was only 7 stone to start with and not eating and constantly being sick, I was a walking skeleton.
I gained 1 and half stone by the time I was 9 months gone and looking back on the pics, I looked like death! |

Totally agree with some of the above posts. Kate won't be admitted with morning sickness but with hyperemesis gravidarum .... A whole different ball game. Anyone that has suffered with it will know that no one would or could be 'making a fuss'. It's horrid and can have serious consequences for Mum and baby. Perhaps some of the doubters and haters above should try throwing up 50 times a day... Will at least stop them posting drivel |

She's not a "normal" woman though is she? She's the wife of the future King of England.
I for one don't really want to hear about it. As far as I'm concerned millions of women go through it every day, pregnancy is a choice and there are lots who would kill to be in their position regardless of the sickness.
However, I'm just staying away from the news and newspapers. And I shall be staying away from threads like this |
