See I’m undecided : on one hand you can properly plan and make sure you do all the things you want to do and make sure you say all the things you want to say. Particularly if it’s a long way away.
On the other hand, as someone said above, it’s a bit of grim countdown isn’t it the nearer you get to it.
Gawd knows why I asked the question. Depressing really isn’t it? |

"Would you rather know when or how...?"
Ah! Now that's an interesting question
So, if you were supposed to get squished by a bus or fall down a well it could definately impact on not venturing near roads.. Or wells |

Sometimes you have no choice
So for me tomorrow I’m off to the hospital for a pre assessment for a heart operation that’s booked the week after. When you get it it is ok as long as you have time to put everything in place (luckily I have) |

There is a film call Death day. Which is similar. Where an app tells you the day your going to die. Ans it actually happens even if you try and avoid or uninstall the app.
P.s don't download the app to see. |

"Yes so I could organise everything then I would be ready to go "
I was thinking that .
I would have the best of it with my daughter like a series is gonna end on Netflix , u don’t want them to go but u know the end is comming ….
The man who discovered how to read the DNA and done his own readings aperantly regrets it for life .
Do on purpose to find out I wouldn’t ,
But if I knew , yes organise everything for my last one way train ticket and have a great time traveling my daughter around the world as much as possible
And leave her all my belongings . |

It feels like a terrible count down
But aren’t we all in a terrible count down, just with a clock we can’t see?
Personally, I’d like to know I’ve got a year left and enjoying it
Coz right now, I get up and go to work daily, not knowing if I’ll get to see my hard work pay off tomorrow |

No thanks!
I would obsess over it and become severely depressed.
I watched my dad who never once cried spiral into deep depression after they told him he would die within weeks and it was heartbreaking. I don't ever want to be told how many days I have left. |

Hell yes ! So I’ll know that I need to really finish my list of things I’d like to do before dying.
By the way if any of you can help me out, I’d appreciate it. |

No way!!
What if somehow the date was wrong.... and you went out and blew all your money, told everyone you loved them (and the ones you can't stand) , gave away lots of your possession's and your home, for it to be wrong!
Hell no...... I'll leave the way I arrived - unexpectedly

I kind of would be I'm not so sure.
I'm sure we would all live our lives very differently if we knew how long we had left. But it could massively depress you and make life seem pointless.
Memento mori is enough of a reminder for me

"How depressing "
Is it? Maybe you could use it as a trigger to truly ensure you experience wonderful things now rather than wait (and never get around to it). Surely you could (if you so wanted) turn it into a positive? |

I'd not go looking for it but if offered the information then I'd want to know, I'd be unable not to. Think initially I'd focus on it but then it'd prob go to back of my mind again till the date got closer. |

Yes.
It would be useful to plan ahead and enable me to make the maximum use of the time available between now and an inevitable, but distant, moment in the future.
And if I could be busy right up to the very last moment, all the better! |

Great question Dan. Not depressing at all. I think anyone who thinks it a depressing question hasn't really examined their own life or anyone else's or even perhaps stopped to realise that their life WILL come to an end......... at some point.
Or if they do realise.... then they hide from the fact.

I think it is depressing and it's not because I've not examined my own life at all. I'm well aware of my own mortality thanks.

That's the reason I like the question Dan.
Whilst I don't want to know the day I die, i've long been settled to the fact that I will.
I've also accepted long ago that there is no time like the present. Don't put off until tomorrow ...... live each day as if it IS your last ...... we never know them moment and all the other wise sayings and shit cliches are true.
Don't sweat the small stuff etc..... If people knew that today was their last , would they really be shitty to others and think that they grow from it ? Would they really be hung up on the past or dreading the future ?
Memento Mori ...... |

The “you” was generic .. applicable to all, not “you” personally! Apologies if it was written in a way that made it seem it was talking about you personally! That wasn’t the intention! |

Oooh, good question. I'm going to say yes because then I could make sure I had got rid of everything that would embarrass my family when they were sorting out my house.
When I was 5, my teacher had cancer and found out she was going to die and made us each a box with a letter in telling each of us why we were special. They're was a little Teddy in it as well. If I knew when I was going to die, it would give me the opportunity to do that for my friends and family.
Makes it easier to finance my life and adventures if I know how long I've got as well.
So, yes please. |

It’s definitely better for me knowing for a start something I’d not given much thought to was my will I was still leaving everything to me ex (we were married when I wrote it) so now that has been rewritten! I’ve been able to write letters to my nearest n dearest n plan n pay for my own funeral on the worse case scenario on tomorrows op
Fingers crossed I won’t need it for a fair good few years yet |

Bit of a tricky one this !
Iron Maiden summed it up with the lyrics from a song on one of their albums “As soon as you’re born, you’re dying”, can’t say fairer than that really !!
Personally, I don’t want to know, if I get hit by a bud tomorrow, then so be it, if I’m still partying at 90 years old, happy days.
When my late wife was diagnosed with her condition, she was told it was a progressive disease rather than a terminal one as that implies an end date ! We didn’t know how much time we had left together so we made the most of everyday we had ! |
