The Russians are forcing 300,000 to join their army and that could be just the start.. it could end up that a million are called up to fight in Ukraine..
This government are pledging more spend on defence. Could UK citizens be called up on prescription if this war spreads to other parts of Europe? |

"As long as they don’t get paracetamol. It’s only 19p and getting it on prescription is crippling the NHS."
At £7 a packet it costs the NHS. I mean... How?? The whole purpose was that NHS buys in bulk and it costs less. By the time you have added the cost of a Dr to prescribe, a registered nurse to administer etc your looking at nearly £20 a time |

It’s ridiculous but unless someone literally can’t afford it they shouldn’t be getting paracetamol or ibuprofen on prescription. |

This I agree with. Wholeheartedly. However it's the docs that prescribe them. Not the patient.

True but I’ve been offered them and I just say I’ll pick some up from a shop. Plus it costs me about £8 for a prescription. |

the NHS doesn’t pay £7 a packet!! Good god they would of been bankrupt by now! The 16p version is restricted over the counter sales and no more than 2 packs. The 100 packs GPs prescribe are probably less than £1.50 a pack and deemed to be for those who ‘need’ regular pain relief….

"They should move to Scotland, it's free there (well, the English pay for it but...). "
actually scotland pays more in taxes than it gets back from the treasury ..we just use what we have better by protecting the sick and investing in our youths education ..england could do the same but the powers that be dont believe the young and sick are that important |

Just to inject (sic) some reality in to this, in Russia and Ukraine, you can go into an aptecka (chemist) and buy most things over the counter including antibiotics. As to Russian conscription I would prescribe freedom of information. |

There are major differences. Conscripts are unreliable. They are not professional soldiers. The UK has highly motivated professionals. I wouldn't worry about a draft. Those troops you have at current levels can easily handle anything thrown at them. |

As far as far as I know UK army is on 24hour call since almost start of war so yes they can be called if they decide to openly oppose Russia. |

Think you may be overestimating the numbers, equipment and abilities somewhat. |

If the government ever call on conscription I’m calling that I’m a conscientious objector, I’ll help however I can providing it isn’t with a weapon and told to shoot someone else |

Do you do your job for nothing? Because that’s the only way prescriptions could be administered for free. |

Ahh I get it. In binary land it either costs 20 quid or nothing. Yup |

"Don't forget that the Ukrainian army are mainly civilians and they aren't doing too bad. The elections might change a few things though in the seperatist areas "
I'm not sure we really know what's happening over there Tom. Feels a bit like we have a very long way to go yet and with Russia and China cosying up there won't be many winners. |

First, it's not going to happen there, let alone here.
America trains 150k troops a year, pop 350 million ish. Russia pop 144 million wants to do double that. Nope. Their training infrastructure simply cannot do it. Plus, their training (openly shared with the West in better times) is shite. |

Numbers for uk forces have been steadily dropping for years and recruiting has dropped as well.
If the government wanted more troops they’d just recruit more.
I’m not a fan of conscription, I served for 13 years and I wouldn’t want someone who didn’t want to be there watching out for me |

They have their own answer to mumnset and FAB, it's called aarsepedia, totally unofficial of course, but it's a safe place to let off steam, moan, bitch and talk shite. Bloody funny in places too!
