So I was just reading this ‘debate’ on another website, was an interesting read and probably about 50/50.

There was a pic of neatly stacked plates/cutlery on the customers table for the waiting staff to grab and take away. I ALWAYS do this myself as I just think it’s thoughtful and my dad is totally team ‘why you making work for yourself, it’s their job’.

Now I view this all definitely differently to the people that leave all their shite on the table in McDonalds and just leave. That’s just the highest level of selfish imo, When the object is to tidy up yourself.

It’d deffo be interesting to hear from someone who’s worked in the industry to weigh in too.

So the question here is are you team ‘stack the cutlery’ or ‘it’s the waiters job’?

Definitely team stack here. Although I have known people in the industry that say although people are trying to be helpful, they would prefer to do it themselves as they can stack in the best way to carry

I expected this thread to be about a completely different subject.

Apologies.

I shall go and bleach my brain now.

As the father of 3 kids who have worked in hospitality and 2 who still do, they have said this numerous times. They are happy that the customers are trying to help but very often it's more of a hindrance. Passing the plates and cutlery to the staff member to stack is a better option.

Usually have to stack to make room on the table if the waiting staff are slow in clearing away between courses. But, I know sometimes stacking is not helpful as they have a way of clearing and carrying the cutlery and crockery.

It would be a much more interesting thread if it were about waiters or waitresses doing another type of clearing up!!!

Me too lol - but having the cuck dressed as a waiter in readiness to clean up sounds rather interesting

I don't stack as friends of mine who work or have worked in that job have said they hate it when customers do it.They prefer to do it themselves because they know how to make it easier for them to carry it away and usually the customers have just made it more awkward for them.
