OP, I have passable Italian, better knowledge of Spanish. Basic French, really basic like ab initio level. I'd love to learn Japanese. |

I'd love to learn Japanese. I can speak enough French and Spanish to get buy (directions, coffee, beer, food) |

Portuguese, Spanish, some French (far better comprehension than expression). Understand enough Italian to get the gist of it. Was learning Russian a few years back to the point I mastered the Cyrillic Alphabet, it's a weird one |

Yes, it is. Almost like a completely different language!
And also the variants within LATAM (and regions in Spain) are enormous… but somehow we make ourselves understood. |

I understand Spanish well but do have trouble with the Latin American variant. Structure seems the same....is it the accent? Similar to continental Portuguese and Brazillian? |

I'm learning French for work.
I have passable "business french". Can navigate trains, planes, taxis, hotels, restaurants etc and be absolutely fine... Any other topics and I'm lost! |

That's very interesting
Growing up in Canada I've seen how different English is between Canada and the United States. Canadian English is probably closer to British English the United States English |
