I never liked his character in Rogue one, and for me Star Wars needs Jedi/the force to distance itself from just another generic space show... Even though I know the universe is more than that with lots of rich content to pull from.
That was the hook that pulled me in as a kid, space wizards with a laser sword.
So it's hard for me to be interested in Andor and what's going on. So I'm biased to begin with.
The first 2 episodes were a hard slog, 3rd not all that much better though logically as it goes on it should (if its good) pick up in pacing the further in it gets.
Everything else, acting, cinematography, set design etc is spot on and I can't fault it so far. |

Just finished the 3rd and I think its getting a little better. But you're right, it doesn't feel like Star Wars. Feels a lot grittier, more Scandi Noir in space than laser sword space wizards

I've seen the three available episodes. It's very well made, and very different from the other Disney+ shows. It's strange watching a Star Wars series featuring precisely zero characters I care about, though. |

I've seen it described as "Star Wars for grown-ups."
I'm not sure that's fair, but I'm interested to see what else they do with it.
I'll say one thing: I'm really happy to not be on Tatooine for a change. |

"The best description I've seen said about it
"a glass of room temperature water in a beige room" "
I think this describes it perfectly. Have seen all the available episodes to date and found myself drifting off in my own thoughts more often than not. It isn't exactly gripping. |

Slow burn but it’s ok.. visually good, big different. It’s not as bad as a lot are saying tbf, in my opinion anyway.
Easy viewing curled up on the settee with a hot chocolate as the nights draw in! |

I didn't sign up to watch a disgraced glorified security guard eat breakfast with his mum!
Nor see the homelife of Mon Mothma that had a breakfast scene to rival Breaking Bad (yes! That's right 2 breakfast scenes in the same episode). |

Wondered when it was going to get exciting. Persisted with it and then the series ended. Quite disappointed actually. Loved all the rest of the side stories but this just seemed to have no story, no agenda and no outcome.
Reminded me of coming out of a long business meeting with nothing of value and thinking what the F was that all about. |

I think there’s still two episodes left, hopefully with a lot more fanfare than the rest of the series |

Andor is a twelve-episode series. We're not even half way yet. |

Actual decent action this week.
My problem still is I know Andor's fate, and I did not nor do I like Andor still. I have zero connection, bond, or even like the other characters so I don't really care what happens to them so any actual tension is gone from the action scenes.
I'm just sitting around for the only character I really liked in Rogue one, K-2SO. The damn droid! Though I think it's confirmed he (it?) is not in season 1. |

Similarly, I don’t give a shit about Andor himself – I’m far more interested the stories of the characters around him. I think there are four unresolved plot points I want to see addressed in the remaining half of the series. None of them directly involve the title character! |

Andor is obviously about Cassian Andor, and how he got to where he ended up in Rogue one. But its also about how rebel cells started to form. And how the empire and imperial forces plainly thought they where untouchable and belived their own hype. Even the thought of someone stealing from them was passed off as a joke. "Who would steal from us, we are the empire?" Scoff. So it's all the ting that go on in the background of star wars behind the force and light sabres. Some of it quite dark. It's really good. |

I've enjoyed all off the extra star wars series Mandalorian, Boba fet, obi wan kenobi and Andor, some have been better than others but all give you a little bit more of the whole star wars story and help in the back ground information to the main movies.

Nice to see the story moving with the last few episodes. I still dislike Andor as a character though, so that won't ever change.
As I think I've said before, without jedi and the force it's just generic space show to me (even with the empire/rebellion). So it's nothing but mediocre in terms of the setting (for me). It barely has any none humans in it. However everything else I really like. Much more background thought has gone in to it than the other shows, even Mandalorian. A different kind of story in the franchise of star wars. |

"I'm 2 episodes I'm and finding it tough going to stay interested, is it worth sticking with?"
In all honesty all of the episodes are difficult to stick with it picks up maybe last 3 episodes but it does tell a part of the star wars story. |

Unfortunately it's a little too late, the viewer numbers are quite low due to the pushing away lucasfilm have done to lots the fans that once upon a time would have eaten this up based on the star wars tag alone. |

Possibly even better in the most recent one! Hopefully we'll keep seeing more of him. He's wasted under a mo-cap suit. "

"I got bored of it as big a starwars fan i am this is the last jedi of the tv shows so far"
Nah, it's not even close to that. The last jedi has issues beyond anything Andor suffers from.
Andor is a whole level of different. It's the behind the curtain kind of show, it's not about big heroic acts or anything like that. It's about the cogs within the machine that is the empire and foundations of the rebellion. The people of the universe that are not overlord evil, but are part of something that is tyrannical, willing to do horrible things without remorse.
"We are cheaper than droids. And easier to replace" that is a great line and sums up the point of the show.
It is closer to a thriller wrapped up in a star wars skin than the sci-fantasy we are used to. A world builder and world expanding show. It is just missing the iconic space wizard and laser sword action for being iconic.
Immersion over spectacle.
The first episodes were dull, by most standards but it is extremely well written and acted, and as the story progresses it gets better. Great detail for the most part put in. It's telling a pretty damn good story.
It shits all over Book of Boba Fett. Mondalorian, it's on level with, but again a different kind of show that you can't really compare. Obi-wan... Terrible other than the Obi and Vader stuff.
I still have zero interest in Andor as a character and that's never going to change which certainly drags things down, never a good thing when the main character is an issue for some. A couple of other characters are growing on me though.
Give me an old republic, thousands of jedi adventure any day. But I can not fault Andor as a bad show. |

I really am enjoying it tbh
I like the bleak desperate nature of it
It's really getting across the David and Goliath nature of early rebellion Vs the empire |

"I am seeing a lot of English actors in this series so I wonder if it was produced in England?"
As far as I know it was shot entirely in the UK. Locations have included, off the top of my head:
- Cruachan Dam in Scotland
- The McLaren F1 Technology Centre in Woking
- The Barbican in London
- Canary Wharf in London
- Middle Peak Quarry in Derbyshire
- Winspit Quarry in Dorset
Most hilariously of all, Andor was arrested by that Shore Trooper right outside the Cove Café on Cleveleys seafront. It's been hilarious seeing American fans talking about "Space Florida" or "Space Cancun" when it's fucking Blackpool. |

You're welcome. It's one of the reasons it looks so good — they went to real places and built real sets and filmed real actors there. It wasn't all shot in front of a giant screen like The Mandalorian, or on a bunch of sand dumped in an Los Angeles car park like The Book of Boba Fett. |

I think it's fucking excellent!
In posts above it's mentioned about starting slow, and it does. But bear with it guys.
I think Andor and the Clone Wars cartoons are really excellent political commentaries actually. How a dictatorship seizes and maintains control. Really educative for kids if they want to learn about politics and how an unfortunately large number of the people in the world are forced to live |

I'm loving it, Rogue One is by far the best Star Wars film and this is the best series, why? Well because there is none of the Skywalker/chosen one bollocks, nine of the seriously crappy dialog, no annoying fucking droids (yet) getting the the way of everything.
It's inching along, drip feeding just how genuinely inhuman and oppressive the Empire is.
It's only downfall - and this sticks with all Star Wars - every one important to the plot is human! |

I’m loving it at the moment. It builds and builds and is really worth the early investment in the slow-burn episodes.
It’s like lots of the best TV right now - takes some time to develop characters, build the world and get you really invested.
If you’re looking for another incredible show that is the ultimate slow burn before a massive pay-off, I can recommend Severance on Apple TV, that’s my show of the year right now. |

A man of good taste and good opinion.
Distinct lack of non human species in this series which is unfortunate, but it looks like it was maybe quite a Covid contained and cheaper production than a usual star wars series? I might be wrong though. And maybe CGI'd studio aliens and associated planets aren't too expensive to incorporate. Anyway, it certainly looks a more austere production and is fucking fantastic. Like you say, really captures the oppressive nature of a regime.
Rogue One is insanely good, beautifully sad and definitely in the top 2 Star Wars productions of all time. I was so pleased they didn't kiss - that would have ruined the whole film and all the amazing work |

Gets better and better, episode 10 was heart breaking for one character. There are (I believe) 2 episodes to go, so I can see this heading into setting up S2 where Andor fully embraces the resistance.
Sad that people seem to lack the patience or attention span to watch a show that actually builds characters and storylines, rather than wham bam big explosions every week. |

Keep going with it, it’s not brilliant but it does get better. Just don’t expect to many pew pew lasers and lightsabers etc. it’s a bit more intelligent than some of the other series but it’s a slow, slow burner. |

I’ve watched a few episodes and I enjoy the tone of the show. But the lead guy is such a bad actor it’s annoying me. Still it’s much better than all the other Star Wars tv shows.
That Obi Wan show was terrible, mandalorian was so/so and all the new movies were dreadful (except rogue one) |

So far it's been the best if the live action Star Wars. Looking forward to season two, set a year or two onwards from where season one left off.
For animation Tales of the Jedi was very good and clear up a few plot wholes in back stories.
Season two of the Badbatch starts tomorrow. Looking forward to that. |
