I've always found it important to be honest about my age. We personally don't want to meet people over a certain age range or infact below a certain age range, and that is out choice. However, it's pretty obvious that there are many out there that are less than honest. A couple messaged, saying they were 45 and 52. They pointed out they also had single profiles. Their ages on there were 42 and 62. She had lowered her age by 10 years. When questioned why, it was explained that she wanted to meet only people under 55, and that she felt that would be less likely if she was honest about her age. My argument is we should have a choice about who we meet based on facts, not lies and old photos. If we met someone in a club and decided we wanted them join us for fun, I wouldn't question their age, it doesn't matter. But surely there is a reason why we have our age range on the profile, come on guys, be honest. |

"If we met someone in a club and decided we wanted them join us for fun, I wouldn't question their age, it doesn't matter" ...it's this part right here that should answer your question. It just shows a little bit of a double standard. Of course honesty is essential, but when you say you don't care about age in real life but care about age on fab, some people will feel pressured into lying about their age. |

"I know a few people who have time machines.
They were older than me a few years ago, but have re-joined with new profiles and are now younger than me "
Yes had that too |

I have often dated younger than me, and after a while you do notice the difference in maturity.
Hookups and sex, so long as there is no drama it's a lot less important.
Personally, I don't lie about my age even though I think I could -- but I think it's OK to add or subtract a year to keep your personal life private (I haven't done that, but have met people who have).

Age isn't just a number as far as I'm concerned. My upper age filter on here is almost meaningless because I've never been with a woman older than me at any time in my life.
I would be extremely uncomfortable meeting anyone even close in age to my children so my lower filter is set at 10 years above my eldest and is adjusted each year.
Those are my preferences but unfortunately like many things on here, the usual suspects see nothing wrong with picking holes in people's preferences which have fuck all to do with them.
I've never been to a club so don't have to consider meeting someone outside those filters.
When I do meet it's only after weeks or even months of chatting and a number of socials by which time someone's age would be fairly obvious.
My own age is fact because I'm proud of how I look and happy to help fly the flag for people of my vintage. |

I know two older guys who are strangely still a good few years younger than their real ages, on here. They’re both FAF so they shouldn’t feel the need to lie, but they do.
I do wonder though as I head faster than a speeding bullet towards 41 (next Sunday!) when I’ll be out of a lot of peoples 25-40 brackets…how I’ll feel
I also feel so odd when couples with one much younger (20s, for example) contact me. I’d feel like Grandma… |

There's no one quite like Grandma |

But the OP mentioned people using old pics as well as lying about an age so there's nothing genuine there. That's totally misleading.
If you are honest enough to use current pics but knock a few years off your profile age, well since a person is still mostly deciding attraction based on the physical for a hook up, the important part of the looks side of things isn't being lied about.
I haven't just plucked random numbers for my age preferences, they are carefully chosen and from experience and my personal circumstances. |

Surprisingly and thankfully there appears to be more people than I thought either attracted or it’s not an issue to chat/meet with my age (55)
I don’t think at the grand old age of 41 you are going to be out of many peoples brackets, your pics and profile just ooze happiness , tinged with a little naughtiness which is epitomised by the last second of your video - I love it |

I've stated this many a time.
Has anyone ever honestly been asked for photo ID by someone they met on here? Whether to back up an age shown on a profile or when meeting in a club?
I seriously doubt it.
If you stripped specific ages from all profiles on Fab and people had to decide who they were attracted to purely by photos and/or videos I'm pretty sure people would still meet and the world would keep turning.
If you met someone who was actually 2 years above/below your upper or lower age limit and you never found out would it change the enjoyment of the meet?
It's essentially Schrödinger's cat.
Until you open the box and see concrete proof of age in the form of a passport or driving licence...is the person you're meeting telling the truth about their age or fibbing?

Personally, I think if they look like that age they’ve lied about then it’s fine by me. But then it’s a bit of a red flag that they are lying. I think I have my age limits set to 50 but would go for older depending on the person and what they looked like. |

"All of a sudden I seem to be seen as an "older woman" by guys in their twenties. They tell me I don't look my age - as if I've just disclosed I'm a pensioner "
Wow at 31? I’ve definitely got that now I’ve turned 40. |

I can understand why some people feel the need to alter their age, it greatly increases chances of meets.
I get a lot less interest than I did 3 years ago when I joined but look virtually the same. I have no doubt that my messages will dry up completely when I turn 60!
C'est la vie! |

"People are always gonna tell fibs on here "
'Some people' should have been the opener on your post as not everyone tells fibs (or outright lies) on here. Our profile is 100% true and factual and like the op we wish all the others we encounter were the same but some folks lie in real life so the chances are pretty good they'll be fibbing on here too |

Yes but this is a bit like the curvy issue. Some women who have a flat stomach and an hourglass figure describe themselves as curvy but then there are some who describe themselves as curvy who's gut is wider than their shoulders or hips and it hangs down to their crutch !! W t f is that about ? |

I'm not a good liar so I put my real age ! Think I could get away with claiming to b younger as sometimes think I'm seen as some kind of tick box for some being my age! Get plenty of attention/offers but sometimes wonder the underlying reason x |
