Who out there in the music world do you list t to and just think, where in life did they think they had a good enough voice for a music career? (Granted, I accept some I don’t like can sing and hold a note, they’re just not my bag - ie Beyoncé )
But, damn. How did Ian Brown become a professional singer? 
However. One of the greatest bands and music acts to come out of Manchester

All if the Spice Girls are awful singers
I also think Gary Barlow has a poor voice.

David Lee Roth.
Back in the 70's and early 80's his voice was perfect for Van Halen but since about the mid 90's his voice has gone to shit. It really ruined the VH reunion tour for me.

I haven't heard Damon Albarn in a while. But I do recall him and Graham Coxon's , harmonies, cough!
Ian Brown as mentioned, Reading Festival, christ! I just got out of the way for the ship coming in!
Axl Rose, three gigs (including ACDC) where he was spot on. One I can only describe as aural constipation. |

Reminds me of a story Noddy Holder told when I went to a book signing of his. In the early days of Slade, he was advised to go for singing lessons. Off he went and the tutor asked him to sing a little. He belted out a few notes and the tutor said 'there's nothing I can do for you.' He never had another singing lesson ever. Slade were the biggest selling artists of the 70s in Britain. Astonishing if you think who their peers were in the same era.
Attitude far outweighs singing talent in many aspects. Look at the greatest rock and roll stars and actually see how many can actually "sing". Then there's shite imo like Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. |

Most of the really great artists are terrible singers. It’s why we like them, they are unique. We can all be made to sound good, even me and I sound like an effeminate coal miner, with technology, but we all sound the same when someone polishes that turd. Prince had awful nasally singing, we kinda ignore it because there’s no one like him. So many celebrated singers have edgy/weird/unusual voices. Imagine I’d Dylan sounded like Buble? No thanks. |

Ariana Grande... can't understand a word she's saying. Maybe I'm just too old to hear sounds that high.
Lewis Capaldi. I like a couple of his songs, so tried listening to some more of his music and had to turn it off, just song after song of him screeching not singing. |

Agree about Spice Girls but Gary Barlow can definitely sing. |
