What struck me the most is in the hall there must have been around 500 people at least Filling past or walking down the steps but there was absolute silence.

As a republican, nationalist, libertarian and anti-elitist ... certainly not.

An old woman has died. Britain spends too much time living in the past. A past the British Empire and monarchy have very little to be proud of.

It saddens me how submissive, gullible and complacent the modern 'British' are.

Absolutely agree. As a nation our past is very jaded indeed.

She was a girl born into a family. She didn't choose that life. And really she didn't have a life in the way that we knew. And she stepped up and I think she did serve us well.

She is a human, a mother, grandmother regardless of her status and despite it being inevitable. It is still a loss.

Despite your thoughts belief.

Where's the respect. For eachother at least.

Live and let live.

That pomp and ceremony brings a lot of money to our economy.

If they were all abolished tomorrow the houses, palaces, stolen jewels for their nice hats and history would all still be there to attract the tourists.

A woman died. Her status means nothing. Imagine if that was your mother/grandmother.

I think you can question the validity of the pomp whilst respecting that an old lady died.

"I thought Harry and Andrew were going to be wearing military uniform?"

They made an exception for the vigil.

There is no way it would or should be allowed for a state funeral. I respect both of them for their military service but because they are not working royals, they are now ex forces and they shouldn’t be allowed to wear uniform. Same rules apply to anyone who has served.

There are over 7,000 service personnel there today and working in the background of every race, creed, gender etc.

You may notice the Queens former Equery marching at the side of the coffin … a senior (Lt Col) Blues and Royal officer of Color. I have seen men, women and people of colour in fhe Navy carriage party, and men, women and people of colour in the guards contingent.

I agree … for reasons they gave up third military roles, and are not serving anymore …it’s not a fancy dress party!
