As I love a good debate:
Women seem to get with men for financial security and stability.
Men seem to get with women for attraction and sex.
M2M get with each other for sex and stability.

I do like a good mass debate.
If this was the case, broke men would have no kids and they'd be no families living in poverty.
True some women go after men with money, those that go to footballer bars and chase footballers etc. But a very small minority. |

Sweeping generalisations!!!
Is there no end....
Jeez
I'll never combine finances or rely on a guy.
If a guy is in my life it's as a bonus not a foundation.
I have my home and family to support. I would never open that up to the bs of a relationship going tits up |

Seems to be hitting a nerve with a few ladies.
What I am saying is: women even if financial independent USUALLY want something out of the man; be that children, property etc. |

I think broadly speaking, the first two are fairly accurate. Women will rarely marry down, by that i mean marry a guy who is less successful than them. Men will however.
There are of course , as with all things, lots of exceptionsnto the rule. |

What age group? Because I reckon when you get older and you’ve found your own financial security or sex isn’t your biggest priority in life, your views change in what’s important and what you view highest in a person you want to spend time with. |

Totally agree. First/second question I am usually asked at a normal date is what do I do for living. Few times with quite successful girls I jokingly said I am plumber and their interest faded through the night. On contrary when I am saying I am Vice President bla bla bla - most become very interested. Doesn’t guarantee anything of course, but definitely a filter ladies use. Women rarely date down and that is fact. |

There's a lot said on here about the label of 'professional' and aiming to connect with a peer group who have a common history.
I don't think it's a guarantee of common ground these days though as people climb professional ladders by a variety of means now not just the traditional. There are lots of self-made success stories.
I'd want a capable functioning member of society, the how and what of their life plan are irrelevant beyond that basic sense of adulting successfully. |

Yeah, wasn't thinking in terms of financials, etc.
Just in achieving the goals they have set for their own selves. Managing daytoday life and such.

I'd choose a guy who made me laugh, made me feel like the only woman he needs, who I had fun with but was also able to talk to when I needed support, and who I fancied the pants off.
This year, when dating, I've met men who seem to think their amazing jobs, cars and incomes mean its ok to still be a prick.
Its not ,and never will be. |

Do you really enjoy a good debate? Or just like to start controversial hand grenade threads that you know will get people's backs up?
Because there's a pretty obvious difference between the two........

Trying to masquerade a deliberately argumentative opinion as a 'debate' is as transparent as an expertly cleaned window.
It's not original. People have been doing it for as long as the forums existed.
If you're going to do it though at least state why you believe it to be true and have some evidence to back up your assumptions, else it just looks like a 'ooh....aren't I edgy and controversial' post.
There's nothing wrong with a debate at all. But a debate requires a rational argument and an explanation of your theories, rather than just a couple of one line statements.
That's not a debate in rhe slightest.

I wouldn't get involved with a man who wasn't financially secure and stable. I'm too damn old to starve in a garret it's not romantic or fun and love does not keep you warm. I would want to be attracted to him too though.
I wouldn't want to be with a man I wasn't attracted to or didn't want to have sex with. I'd want to be on a fairly equal financial footing with him too.
Other women might think differently though

I think both have to be financially and mentally stable to even think about jumping into a relationship. If you aren't ready I don't think it's fair to get involved and just go with it |

Debate:
1. A discussion involving opposing points; an argument.

You haven't made one. You've offered no evidence or backed up your three opening statements at all.
You've used a lot of rainbows but that's not really a useful explanation as to why you believe what you've said.
Assuming of course you actually do think that?

"As I love a good debate:
Women seem to get with men for financial security and stability.
Men seem to get with women for attraction and sex.
M2M get with each other for sex and stability.
This thread could have been posted anonymously and I'd still have guessed the OP.
Do you really enjoy a good debate? Or just like to start controversial hand grenade threads that you know will get people's backs up?
Because there's a pretty obvious difference between the two........

it would only get people's backs up if they take it personally.
A
Debate:
1. A discussion involving opposing points; an argument.
2. Deliberation; consideration: passed the motion with little debate.
3. A formal contest of argumentation in which two opposing teams defend and attack a given proposition
Yes.
And none of those were in your opening post.
You made three statements with no attempt to argue their case. No discussion. No deliberation. No argument.
Just three baseless statements.
A
Please see statement 1. They are all different meanings of the word debate. I have covered what statement 1 says.

The OP regrettably forgot to add two women to the mix. They meet each other so that they can do some scissor action, get all wet and then smear themselves all over me. I can’t think of any other reasonable reason. |

So essentially it's a hand grenade post.
Thanks for clearing that up.
It's not down to others to debate your views on your behalf. You need to own them.
Unless you can't explain them of course but then who would be daft enough to post controversial statements in an open forum and then not have the confidence or balls to support their own views.....
What would be the point of that?

Nope.
I've asked him why he believes his statements to be true.
That's essentially what a debate is - people explaining their thoughts and arguing their viewpoints.
I have no issue with the subject at all - just the statements made.
The OP stated he likes a debate. More than happy to indulge him buy to do so he'll need to provide an argument.
I'll wait........

Would a celebrity get with someone on minimum wage or not working. Would a millionaire go with a unemployed person. Would you go with someone who was unemployed or working. Probably working as you would say you would want them to be financially able. it's about money and social status. |

Now you're providing arguments for your views. Well done!
Millionaires can get with whoever they choose. They don't need to find someone to provide financial stability as they already have that.
As for anyone else? Are you seriously saying that all unemployed people or those in minimum wage jobs are single? Because they're not. Nor are they (as your opening statements alluded) all women.
There's far more to life than money and status. Neither of those things are guaranteed to last.
Or do you assume that should someone lose a job and financial status that a partner would automatically leave them?

It means both men and women (married or civil partners) have to work to survive financially right now, so even in the man has a good wage it doesn’t guarantee that the woman would be able to give up work and expect him to provide for her, those days are long gone |

"As I love a good debate:
Women seem to get with men for financial security and stability.
Men seem to get with women for attraction and sex.
M2M get with each other for sex and stability.
I think broadly speaking, the first two are fairly accurate. Women will rarely marry down, by that i mean marry a guy who is less successful than them. Men will however.
There are of course , as with all things, lots of exceptionsnto the rule. "
My wife married down.. always earned way more than I did.. |

This is, of course, a massive generalisation, but if we make an assumption that maybe women on average look for financial security in a partner more than men do, is it not worth asking why?
Women are still very often expected to be the stay at home partner after children are born, so of course it may be on their mind that their partners finances are important.
Remove gender roles and expectations, and, unsurprisingly, people can make freer choices in their relationships. |

"Tell me: you could choose a guy on min wage or a millionaire. If you choose the latter my point is proven. Obviously not all would but a large amount would.

Not for... with....Would I get financially involved with a man who has debtors chasing him whilst he consumes his wage in inebriation...
I provide a financially secure and stable home for my kids as a single person, any man would have to have his shit in order to stay in my life...
