Just been told by my sister thst my niece has asked if her boyfriend can stay at my sister's place in her room. What do we think is an acceptable age to allow this to happen?

There is no set age.

What there should be are boundaries, agreements and trust.

If it was a lad bringing a lad home would the same sexual fears be applied ?

My daughter is 15 and she's got at least another... 40-45 years I'd reckon before it's, over my dead body.

Once they are contributing to the household as if they were a tenant rather than a dependant. Hopefully by that point they would have moved out anyway

We told both our daughter and son that when they were in a commited relationship we'd be ok with it.

"We told both our daughter and son that when they were in a commited relationship we'd be ok with it. "

^this and legal consent would be my guide.

With the side note of "If you aren't in a position to be dealing with all the possible outcomes you really ought to reconsider taking that step"

Have to be okay with living with the consequences of your choices, the joys of adulting.

Yes. Also we all had to lived there. I didn't want to bump into young men or women I didn't know in the middle of the night.

Bollocks, not putting up with some layabout bum and the noise of them doing it. It's not all shits and giggles, it's just shit. Just get him at the door and pound his face so he knows to fuck off. If he's big, crush his ankles first then his face and if you really hate him, break both his wrists so he can't feed himself or wipe his own ass.

If not welcome with open arms and tell him she's a cracking bit, all the lads have her and your replacing the front door with a revolving door because she is such a slut.

I can be too helpful sometimes but it's a good fault I think.

Your sister knows her daughter and if she thinks she's old enough to handle a sexual relationship. Regardless of whether she allows them to sleep together openly under her roof they'll be having sex anyway.

I have noticed that parental approval of a relationship tends to imbue it with more seriousness and that can be a double edged sword

I have told her she is better off letting them use the house than a Bush or woods.

Depends on the parents, their choice really. I wouldn’t have allowed it at 16. I didn’t think I’d allow it at all to be honest as I was never allowed to. Think she was about 19 when I said it was ok. She’d been with him since 17 and are still together now at 25.

Let them, better to know where they are.

My son used to have his gf stay over, as long as it was ok with her parents, they were 16/17.
