Well seeing as we are talking a lot about death and funerals this week, what’s one more morbid post?
Do you want a funeral? Have you got it already paid for? Are you just having a cremation and no service, least fuss possible? Are you donating your body to science? |

I have had to think about this a lot over recent months.
I've stage 4 cancer, breast with liver metastases but im ok and have no plans on checking out for a good while yet.
I'm looking at donating to science as my cancer is unusual in its return.
If my legacy is that something is found that will eventually lead to another woman spending a few more weeks with her children, I feel it is my duty to go down this route.

I kept my pooch's ashes after her cremation, with the intention of spreading them at our favourite spot on skye but, the weather was shite when I went to spread them and it didn't feel right so, I kept them. Brought them home.
I'm glad I did, I've decided her ashes and, any others that I've sadly built up before it's my time (can't imagine a home without a hound) will be spread alongside mine at the same spot.
I'm not religious by any means or believe in an afterlife but, on the off chance I'm wrong (it happens, rarely) I'm spending eternity with all my hounds, bouncing around the quairraing.
I like dogs more than I like people, what can I say haha |

Not sure if I'd agree with "duty" but it's an admirable thing to do. Sorry to hear you're in ill health |

I'd like a sky burial, but it's not allowed so cremation for me. I would like a service with readings, music and people talking about me, passing (suitable) photos round and having a drink or two and some nice food |

"I want my remains scattered in Disneyland. Also, I don't want to be cremated."
So you're hoping to terrify the masses with bloody body parts being found all over the theme park.... nice |

Burial for me. I don't see the point of cremation. You've spent good money on a coffin so just put me in the ground, preferably a sandy beach somewhere hot x |

I want a green burial with a tree on top.
We're scattering my grandmothers ashes next weekend in the river near where she grew up. After my grandad died his ashes went into the River Tyne as he was from Newcastle. Hers will go in her local river and they will meet and be together forever in the sea. That was their wish. |

Organ donation, then probably cremate what's left over.
If my organs are still working someone may as well use them though with the stipulation that it doesn't go to someone who abused theirs. |

We have just watched the first episode of The House of Dragons and I told him that if I couldn't be set alight by a dragon at my funeral I wasn't having one... Don't really want one anyway, I will be dead, why would I care how I am disposed of? Just bugger off down the pub while they burn me |

I wanted to donate my body to medical science, but having looked into it it's not as easy as you may think. They don't take just anyone and it's only in certain locations.
So quite truthfully I don't know or care what's gonna happen to my carcass. All I care is that those left remembering me have a fancy dress party and a laugh whilst the dj plays songs that make people think "oh she fucking didn't choose this! What a cunt" |

Hiya Princess,
I'm with you all the way on this one. I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis which is a terminal disease with no cure. They cant say how long, could be 6 months, a year, a year and 6 months they don't know. But, I was speaking to the hospice nurse about them having any 'bits' they want for research as like you I believe if I can help any other poor bugger either extend their lives or maybe one day stop the advancment of the disease or even cure it. Then it is a duty to help them in any way possible to do so. Good luck and hope you keep that checkout at bay for as long as you feel you want to. |

My exe's mam has donated her body to science. She had to fill in some lengthy forms, and I gave my signature as a not family second part. Presumably she'll end up on a body farm stuffed in a wheelie bin, or as a cadaver for med students. But she seems happy with it |

I’ve given this a lot of thought having had to arrange a couple and also taken part in some great ones.
I think whatever you want it’s important to leave clear instructions and finance so that those left behind grieving don’t have ti make tough and costly decisions.

I'm going to be buried with my late wife seeing as I paid for the plot anyway, and there's no extra charge for how many you put in it, so I'll get the most value for my money. Also having decided that my next wedding day is going to be the day that seagulls shit upside down, there's not going to be a grieving widow deciding my fate after I've enjoyed this game of life. |

I'm sorry to hear that & hope that you're doing ok.
The rules for bequeathing your body were always quite strict & unfortunately people with cancer were unable to do so I'm not too sure if that is still the case now or if it has changed.
All the best |

"Aqumation (Alkaline Hydrolysis) is something I’m looking to consider- its very new but will certainly grow over the coming years
Is that where they hang you in a bag until you are liquid ?"
Well sort of it’s a high pressure water chamber with the water at around 150c but yes nothing is left apart from the dissolved remains which like ashes can of course be kept, in many creative ways- I think a Vodka bottle would be fun anyway enough of that I love your pictures |

I’m not fussed which really I have no preference but I’m slowly making a plan I guess if pushed then cremated so I can be scattered over places I liked to go and I’m going to plan a will and have money put aside secretly so my loved ones don’t have to pay for me |

No standard funeral for me. I really don't want my kids to have to sit in a cold crematorium looking at a box.
I want to be taken alone to be disposed of and the boys mark it how they wish too.
My eldest wants to make my ashes into a firework and have a celebration of life, that will be my funeral |

I’ve been helping to organise a family funeral this week. Even organising the order of service has taken a lot more thought than you realise and choosing the photos to go in it.
I’ve told my kids to do whatever they prefer when it comes to mine, as I won’t be here to be worried about it. |

I've spoken to the kids about it told them don't spend much either burn me or bury me on my land and yes it's aloud but knowing eldest he will sell everything up and put me in a paupers grave. |

As long as the ashes of all my pooches are in my coffin with me I don't really care...use any bits that may be of help to someone else, do whatever is easiest and cheapest with the rest of me. No fuss needed, just have a drink and remember why we were friends (and probably at least one ridiculous thing I did that made us laugh ) |
