You can be sacked from some jobs if you are deemed to bring the company / organisation into disrepute.
I know it’s 2022 but some people still think getting your genitals out on t’internet is not a good look
… is the serious answer! |

AW I tryed it wasn’t for me thought I just found it was guys that I had turned down here booking me there
Done 3-4 and then pulled the profile
It’s for some it isn’t for other
If it wasn’t a blind service and I could pick and choose before hand it would be for me
But when they turn up and they not for you but you think they there now and go though with it it’s definitely a hollow win |

Plenty of jobs where someone could be forced to leave if it was found that they were on Fab.

Seriously a job contract would state what websites you are allowed to be on.
Or could you be a swinger but just not through a website? |

I did get offered a job years ago from a nightclub owner to work for him at one of the clubs he owned but he wanted more than 50% of all my earnings so told him thanks but no thanks (can’t believe I was asked the question and that momentarily I was actually considering it - was unemployed at the time)... |

agree (free spirit) and not owned by a Pimp
in all honesty not for me, enjoy the play too much and turning it into a job would probably ruin appetite since it’d be very much dependent on clientele which’d not be of one’s own choosing...!? |

"Why does being “professional” make one think one is more important to remain anonymous then non professionals? "
Job security.
Self respect.
Respect for those around them including their employer.
Bit of a weird thing to be bothered about. |

"Does it, have they explicitly told you that? Or is that what you assume they mean?
People don't half get upset/annoyed/presumptive insert as appropriate over one word.

"Why does being “professional” make one think one is more important to remain anonymous then non professionals?
doesnt need to be mentioned really, who cares what jobs people have "
People don't usually care what jobs you have - but saying you're professional doesn't tell them that. What it does say is that they have probably had 3 to 6 years at university, gained one or two degrees and are looking to meet people with a similar background and set of experiences - and what is wrong with that? If people get so upset about the word it says more about them and their attitudes than it does about the people who use the word 'professional' to describe themselves |

Not only jobs but education and training programmes too. This is really common. |

"It's more amusing when people get butt hurt over it."
I think those who do need to reflect inward and consider why it makes them feel that way. I have never seen anyone say “I’m a professional and won’t play with non-professionals”, or the like. In my experience people use the term to talk about discretion or limited availability to meet. |

These days professional just seems to be shorthand for ‘goes to work in a suit’ rather than being a member of any of the professions, so I’d assume they were right up themselves.. |

Many organisations have a "disrepute" clause in contracts. Without debating the nonsense or fairness or legality of this too much, for some it would be a risk to their livelihood if you turn down the wrong person, and they decide to hit your LinkedIn employee with something salacious, irrespective of it's truth.
Many jobs do not, to balance it out.
However, it's a fair assumption that people on a career path rather than a fairly replaceable job like in say retail, have more to lose on occasion, and are more likely to have signed such an agreement.
Obviously I do not need to state that there's nothing wrong with working in retail, and that all jobs can be hard to replace if you lose one (but someone will pick up on that bit anyway I'm sure, so I'm defending myself in advance )
Finally, it's not that it's MORE important, it's just that is IS important to them |

Even more amusing when people get butt hurt over thinking people are butt hurt"
True
But why does it bother you enough to start a debate on the matter? |
