Our tax laws allow him to avoid paying tax. Who can put their hand on their heart and say they would like to pay more tax than the law requires them to ? Certainly not me so I guess that makes me a tosser too. |

He has done far better in life than I have and is much better looking , he is also enormously wealthy but not content with that will still be so greedy that he will look at tax loopholes so he can add to his already massive fortune. If he is happy with this while so many are struggling then good luck to him and all the other wealthy individuals and and companies such as Starbucks Amazon Boots etc. I can do more than them and say at least I have principles. |

Only poor people claim the moral high ground. If you suddenly became wealthy and your accountant phoned you and said, "Look, if you don't move £300k to this offshore tax haven I've found the taxman is going to take it and redistribute it to lazy fuckers who have never worked." You would say, "I'll be in your office in 5 minutes to sign the paperwork!" |

What makes you think I am poor Wishy, you are very wrong there. I just have morals unlike Mr Barlow .As for lazy F*****S who have never worked , there are many people unemployed who have worked and would loved to be working. |

Very true in some cases Wishy, but I just feel that it is wrong legal or not that some people who have more money than they could ever spend or so greedy that they will make sure they have even more money than can ever spend, whist so many people are struggling to put food on the table. |

There was no magic formula at the dawn of creation that proclaimed everyone should be equal. Setting aside those who have inherited their wealth (and those who are rich through criminal activity), let's look at those who have worked hard and earned it. Why should they be forced to hand over swathes of cash to give to those who haven't worked as hard?
Why should someone who has no drive or ambition live as equally as someone who has succeeded in life?

"Tax avoiding tosser. "
It's amazing how jealousy brings out the best in people. I am sure that if the financial affairs of most people were scrutinised they would be found guilty of avoiding tax in some form. |

I am not saying he has not worked hard and he has deserved his wealth as he is a very talented individual, what i am saying is pay up mate, you will never go hungry or worry about bailiffs knocking on your door , you will not be scared to put the heating on you will not have to take out a pay day loan at crazy interest rates just to put food on the table. It is also unfair to say that someone who has not been a success has no drive or ambition, life turns out different for all of us, we can not say that because someone is not wealthy that they are not motivated, many people work in low paid jobs which they love.

The National Lottery isn't played by millions of rich people every week. It's played by poor people who want to be rich, and the first thing Lotto winners get is a team of financial planners to tell them how to look after it properly. Often, the winners haven't got a clue what they're being told and sign whatever is put in front of them if they're told the taxman won't see it. I'm sure Mr. Barlow is offered similar advice, he's a singer, not an accountant. |

It's a fair point actually. Why should some people have to pax tax, and others (possibly the wealthier ones) be able to dodge paying it??

A hell of a lot of poorer people avoid paying tax as well....working for cash in hand, working while claiming benefits, not declaring income....
Lets not make out that it's only the wealthy that dodge the tax man

There are many people who work cash in hand and do not pay tax, I have no doubts about that , but you will find that the amount of tax avoided by wealthy individuals and large companies far outweighs the amount fraudulently claimed in benefits, not that this is right. What I am trying to say is there are loopholes but stop being so greedy, you have more money than you will ever need and if you paid your tax in a fair way , then it could benefit people who need it. |

radical idea here .. lets make the people who are responsible for the taxation system, responsible for the flaws that are contained within it rather than critising those who choose to make use of the flaws within it, in a perfectly legal manner |

I used to work as a contractor and was advised to set up a limited company which enabled me to avoid quite a big tax liability - no idea how it worked but that's why I paid the accountants...I still have a little part time self-employed sideline and I claim all sorts of expenses against those earnings to reduce my tax bill - I'll avoid tax as much as I can as long as I'm allowed to and I don't consider myself a tax avoiding tosser - if others do, fair enough |

What a lot of people fail to realize is he still pays tax just not at the higher rate that the UK would take off of him.
Guernsey is made up of many many rich millionaires and even the odd billionaire and they still pay tax, but like said just not as much as the UK would take,
We have a flat 20% across the board so no upper limit.
many many rock stars, sports stars have off shore accounts for this reason.
So you see they still pay tax |
