Why do people message and say "what you up to" at stupid o clock at night? I mean it says in my bio I have kids so surely at silly o clock at night I'm in bed and not sitting around in lingerie waiting on someone to ask me "what you up too?" Or having a party!! Do some people have any common sense?! Anyone get frustrated with this? X |

No, doesn't annoy me at all. If I'm awake it might respond. If not I delete when I see it. |

It’s like a fall back question when you can’t articulate anything else. At best it’s because they’re nervous about our tired of messaging (and not getting responses).
Most likely it illiterate laziness though |

When I was on that fishing site and I got this message, I would always answer;
Wanking
Quite a lot of men questioned whether I have a cock

You could genuinely have “anybody who messages me can fuck off and die” written on your profile and you’d still receive these messages.
Nobody reads profiles. |

Why not just respond? Or not if you dont want to?
How do people get so angry at a “what you doing” message? |

Because its usually common sense.. I don't get angry as such, nobody on here could make me that angry,it's just annoying that if you think about it 9/10 the person your messaging at silly o clock would probably be in bed at that time. |

Why do people get so frustrated by this?
Out of all the messages women receive on here, “hey what you up to” seems like the most innocent
It’s a weird place here

But don't people that have kids still go out? Don't they have holls with mates? Don't they sit up waiting for messages? Maybe it's just a convo starter? Not necessarily a good one but all the same is it worth getting upset over? I think some people are over sensitive on here. Not everyone is versed in confidence. I'll take the backlash no probs. |

Most people sending messages have done a local search which starts with who is online right now and goes down through those who have most recently logged off. Therefore, if you're getting such messages at silly o'clock it's probably because you're online. The fact you say in your profile you're a mother is kind of irrelevant, it's fair to assume if you're online you are not right then playing mother of the month. Even if you're not online, one assumes that you're on Fab in the first place for something a little more than recognition of your mothering abilities.
As above, 'what are you up to' is about the least offensive way of opening a conversation even if it is a little bland. The fact you get annoyed by it says as much about you as the question does about whoever asked it. Likewise, the fact you make assumptions about being sat in lingerie. A perfectly reasonable answer would be "having a cheeky browse as I'm bored but not sleepy" or "reading through the forums" or making notes on all the men within a 30 mile radius to score them in my order of preference"
I find it really strange that anyone would create a profile containing intimate photos, post it on a site with a list of the sexual activity they like and then wonder why people responding to it don't ask about the few brief lines mentioning that you have kids

OP, if this happens again then respond with a detailed account of you in a scene from a popular movie.
Currently, I'm using Pulp Fiction and/or 300, don't be afraid to mix them up and have Sam Jackson call someone a motherfucker before kicking them into a massive hole that clearly had no hazard signs, what a H&S nightmare the Spartans were.

It's an opening greeting.
I think at times we are a little over critical of people's openings.
I could come up with the most contrived and generic opening message tweaked slightly for each person that makes me sound creative but it's all as fake as spotting someone you fancy and taking a chance with a normal hello.
Besides if there has been effort put into the profile page I've found the original messages matters less to people anyway |

Yes!
But I also beat myself up because I feel I really should reply as it would be rude not to…
Really I should just ignore them |

"Common sense is sadly lacking these days...and not just on here x"
Common sense is never common in either meaning of the word and its rarely sense either.
Should be called "what I think"

I will always read a profile first before sending any type of message, especially in the early hours. Only respectful to know what the circumstances of the people you are messaging are, also look at what they are looking for. Maybe I am in the minority but I’d certainly put more effort into starting a conversation with “what you up to”. The mind boggles |
