If age is just a number....
Jump to: Newest in thread
Coz age isn't just a number for those it ain't just a number for?
I've tend to find that "age is just a number" is spouted by those who are trying to convince others it shouldn't matter to them, regardless of their own thoughts. |

"Because age isn’t just a number..?"
i've seen it in several profiles now so just wondered why bother writing it when they truly feel it is important afterall. |

Yes and no
Online yes it matters
In the real world no it dose not matter
People normally don’t ask age first in the real world
Attraction sets in first and then age comes second by that time age dose not matter to some |

"All those that write in their profile ' age is just a number' but then set age limits, clearly it isnt just a number for you!! Thats all I'm saying"
Correct
It's NEVER just a number
It speaks to a lot of different things as far as life stage, personality and likes and attitude and sexuality |

Age is not just a number, it's an undeniable fact. You may not act your age and try to disguise it but you can't escape it.
Age filters are important to many on here. I won't meet or even engage with anyone within 10 years of my eldest child.
Despite how some on here like to mock people's age preferences or dissect them it's nobody else's business how or why people choose their filters. |

Age is important to some, less to it herself and not at all to some.
Some place much importance in it, despite never being able to be 100% sure that someone is actually providing the right info - has anyone ever been asked for photo ID on a meet, because if you say yes I'll simply laugh.
Online it's a semi-useful filter if used as a rough guide. I doubt many could pin point a 41 Yr old from a 39 year old at twenty paces so if your cut off point ends in a zero then you've probably already met people outside of your alleged preferences.
Likewise if you visit clubs I doubt any opening conversation starter is "so how old are you?".
People will always be more swayed by looks and photos than a number. If Jennifer Aniston offered to get jiggy with a guy who had 50 as his upper limit I reckon he'd change his tune, likewise if Brad Pitt made the same offer to a woman.
But hey. There will be those who say their age preference is cast in stone, immovable and will never be deviated from.
Yeah. Of course...........

"Age is just a number. That’s a fact
Whether you place and importance on that number or not is what matters
And everyone does to a degree. That’s how age of consent works "
So you're saying age is more than just a number. Got it.
Also whenever anyone says "age is just a number", my mind immediately goes to R. Kelly |

"Because I could never meet anyone close to the age of my parents, or far off my kids ages....."
and that I don't have a problem with. You don't mention in your profiles that 'age doesn't matter' then put age limits, as others have done. You just set the age limits from the start.
Its the double standards of some I'm referring to.. |

"Age is a filter"
and I don't think anyone would argue with that. Its your personal preference afterall.
The problem is with members who write ' age doesn't matter' but then set age limits.
double standards isn't it? |

In my opinion and experiance, you are attracted to a person, regardless of their age.
The Groups you look for/into simply reflect a wider group, of higher number of potential people you will be attracted too.
I am more likely to find someone 25-50 attractive than 50-75 etc.
That is not to say that I do not find some 25-50 unattractive. And some 50-75 very attractive.
I set the limit to the highest likelyhood. |
