.. but as a Leo with Aries rising I would say that wouldn’t it?
(tee hee, the old ‘uns are the best)
But anyway, Fabsters, do you believe that the position of some stars, trillions of miles away, and let’s be honest, given the time taken for the light to get here they might not even exist any more, can influence your character or indeed even your fortunes?
Or do you think it’s just a load of old bobbins?
I’m curious to know .. |

I'd like to say no, but then again I do have certain traits that are linked to my star sign. Or maybe I just think I do because that's what I've been told.
I'm not sure really. |

Made of the stuff of stars = yes.
Fate as written in the stars = bollocks."
But bollocks are made of stardust too |

Load of utter bollocks along with meduims and all religion just something made up to make us feel "Special" or "Different" and rule of thumb should be if a say called "Normal" person started spouting utter bollocks they'd be carted off to somewhere special and that's the biggest irony is that all the god lot adored "Reagan" but his wife wouldn't let him do stuff until she consulted with her " Astrologer" |

I just pick out the good bits and quietly ignore anything else. Mind you, they don't generally say 'that star sign is a twat' and there any many twats so it must be bollocks.. |

I never hear astrology used for good behaviour
Only as an excuse for bad behaviour
And as people say on here, it’s a great filter. If someone seriously thinks the moon and Jupiter makes their personality I can’t say I’m interested in getting to know them |

All I know is I'm a Virgo and it's just a bit of fun. I don't take it seriously. I live my life by Christian, Science and psychotherapy principles.
If people want to live their life by the stars by all means do!! Whatever brings you clarity, peace and joy. |

Aww that's sad. I've met some pretty cool people into star and planet alignment. I don't write them off because we don't believe in the same thing. Then again...I'm a maverick..I've never been a fundamentalist on anything. |

Maverick Christian Science believer here...... My God stuff kept me out of my worst criminal, toxic and dysfunctional thoughts and certain mysterious things that happened in my life that I or anyone I knew had zero control over..... So it works for me and in fact I didn't find out I was "special/different" until early this year my therapist made me do an autism spectrum disorder questionnaire and I got 9 out of 10.
Meh, Normal is overrated. As a person who has been charted off by the emergency services, I can assure you that the criteria is not "spouting utter bollocks". As much as we would like utter bollocks spouters to disappear somewhere quiet.
I believe in science and psychotherapy as well through my own personal experiments.
Blah people are entitled to believe what they want to believe. Until we start brain scanning and psycho-analysing people as a pre-requisite in some sort of dystopian future. I'm learning to meet people where they are and leave them there in peace. |

I do that with Christianity, psychotherapy and peppers on pizza. Pick out the good bits and ignore the psychopathic/sociopathic traits. Lol! |

If you look at how the moon cycles control water in the oceans and also impacts us biologically then it’s not inconceivable to think the position and gravitational effect of various stars when we were conceived and born has some small effect on us considering we are mostly made of water. But that’s very different to mystic Meg nonsense |

But, given that gravitational force obeys an inverse square law (at twice the distance, the force is a quarter), the gravitational effect of stars many light years away is going to be next to bugger all. |

Maybe or personalities are governed by behaviour and weather ...temperatures during the different seasons...the starsign designations are purely labels to differentiate the variety of personalities |

Definitely affects me!! Only 10 more days till SAD season yeah......SAD season for me is too cold and too dark...I have friends for which it is the opposite...too hot and too bright.
I'm off to the tropics to top up my "too hot and too bright" before my SAD season begins. |

Only if you don't understand how gravity works. One of our nearest planetary neighbours, Mars, exerts a gravitational pull on us in the region of 7x10^-9N.
Your dog coming in from the garden has a bigger gravitational effect than most objects in the solar system. The relative positions of stars millions of miles away has effectively zero gravitational effect. If gravity has such an effect on us, astrologers would be better off asking if we were born next to a small hill.

I'm a Libra and Gemini is my most compatible sign followed by Aries. Apparently Libra provide the balance to the skitzo gemini's.
Now I know your thinking it's bullshit and so did I until I came across the ex wife. Who was targeting me.
But here's the really weird bit. A fews years after the divorce I tried a dating site. I found about 100 pictures of women I fancied. When I. Looked at the profiles at least 80% were genini's |

Tiny impacts yes, but none the less the thing it’s impacting at conception is also microscopic. |

And the effect is correspondingly smaller. Lizards can walk up sheet glass because the tiny difference in electric charge from one side of the molecules in the skin of their feet to the other is enough force to hold their body weight and overcome the gravitational pull of the entire planet that they're right next to. Gravity is an incredibly weak force. When you pick a baby up, the electromagnetic forces generated by the chemical reactions in your muscles easily overcome the gravitational pull of the earth. As above, distance weakens this force exponentially. Not only are the gravitational effects of buildings around us far stronger than those of the stars but, at the scale you're taking about (a few cells at conception) any gravitational forces are dwarfed by electromagnetic forces many many orders of magnitude greater. As I said above, being born next to a hill has a far bigger gravitational effect than the position of various planets relative to a random pattern of stars.

I’m not convinced. I think you just read it in a book or Google and used confirmation bias. Do some proper experiments yourself , posts the results here , and I maybe reconsider. Until then my position is unchanged. |
