Must be the worse Marvel film.

Avoid if you have not seen it.

Glad I did not pay to watch that.

Not read the comics in ages but they portray Thor in movies as a Himbo with air between the ears and really thick, turning him into a all muscle no brains figure.

4/10.

Avoided Ghostbusters, what were they thinking?

Proves Marvel can make any shit and people would watch it.

Hope it is the end of Thor but doubt it.

Ended up like a bad Carry On film without the jokes.

Pretty much found most marvel movies repetitive these last few years

I think for me it’s more to do with superhero burnout They are thick n fast with series / movies popping out. Bouncing between arcs

They have become the new zombie / vampire genre of over saturated imo

Good news is chris film about hulk hogan is coming and he is jacked in that. Plus he did say there is an extraction 2 movie in works as well. That was a solid film if you not seen that

I Loved it

The way they are taking the humour is in line with guardians of the galaxy and loki, yes it has completely skewed away from the comic book portrayal, but you cannot please everyone and I like how Thor's character is developing through the films

NB no his nakedness did not skew my opinion

I watched on Friday. It was pretty disappointing. Ragnarok was great, just the right mix of comedy and action. This one just didn’t hit the mark. Although my wife suddenly became more interested when his clothes fell off.

I really enjoyed it.

I found it funny and some scenes were absolutely amazing cinematography wise.

As for the point OP made about them dumming thor down ... it's true. But that's why it's funny. The dude is a specimen! And how boring was it when he wore his mother's drapes and took everything super serious.

Thor being a "himbo" allows you to laugh along with one of the universes most powerful beings. It gives him something to over come. It gives him character growth.

If it was a straight up action movie marvel would be getting panned for being unoriginal.

"Here we go again ... boring Hemsworth delivers another wooden performance as thor. How many times do we need to see the swollen biceps wield his axe and hammer in this pointless franchise blah blah blah"

It's no ragnorok. But it's funny and very tika wattiti.

I really enjoyed it. I liked the back story of the bad guy and thought The Mighty Thor was really cool too.

I thought it has a good balance of humour, action and story.

It also set up the next few films/characters well too.

Ragnarok, though it had a really good bad guy I thought it tried too hard to be funny to the point where it wasn't funny and it was such a tonal shift from films 1 and 2 that it doesn't fit the series.

Too much cgi? What do you expect from a modern superhero film? It's not going to be in the style of Christopher Reeves Superman from 1978 where he's flying on wires. It's not going to be like Christopher Nolan's Batman series either because it's a different style of superhero.

Horrible comedy to drama pacing.

Guardians of the galaxy walked close to the line in terms of silly comedy but worked, Ragnarok walked the line and was lightning in a bottle but also was following up on the far too serious Dark World so was nice to see the tonal shift.

The god butcher is very fitting to what they did to Thor, because that is exactly what happened to two very awesome Thor storylines that could have been much more serious (still with comedy). They butchered it. Combining the two was a great idea, the execution terrible.

The plot points they had, worked, some of the jokes were okay but when every scene has a joke (or more) it is way off tone.

I found it disappointing after Ragnarok. Definitely not the worst Marvel film (hello Thor The Dark World), but it lives and mostly dies by its attempts at comedy

We both sat down to watch it with some excitement. What a huge let down. I cant remember smiling at any of the jokes let alone a chuckle. It did remind me of the old carry on films but without the cheap sets. Marvel are going down hill rapidly for me. The GNR soundtrack was the only saving grace.

Still can't beat Iron man trilogy for storytelling funny one liners and far better acting.

It may be burnout, but it just felt like I’ve seen this film before but without the great execution.

Ragnarok was so good. The performances from others like Cate, Jeff and Karl were great. The comedy beats were amazing like the Snake piece and I work with him.

This movie to me just felt like it wanted to be emotionally deeper but didn’t hit the marks that an Endgame did.

It’s worth a watch if you’re a marvel fan but I’d be surprised if it made your top ten.

Have to agree with you on that one.

Watched two episodes and came to the conclusion its rubbish. Actually realised that 15 mins into the first episode but thought we would give it a fair trial. It just seems Marvel are milking the franchises for all they can before the bubble completely bursts.

I liked Love & Thunder.

Is it different to many of the Marvel flicks? Yes.

Is it as bad as the last Dr Strange movie? Hell no.

Is it anywhere near as appalling as Green Lantern (yes I know that's DC...) ? Nothing will ever be that bad.

It's has its own sense of humour. It's not meant to be like the other films in the MCU. And as such you'll either love it, hate it or be indifferent.

Just like any other movie.

Except it is exactly like other Marvel movies but failed at it.

Ragnarok was lightning in a bottle (pun!) still a bit heavy on the comedy slapstick side, but it worked because it was paced out fairly well. Taika attempted to raise the bar from Ragnarok but failed hard because he leaned too much in to comedy.

Varied genres is good, Winter Soldier being a spy thriller was different. Ant man's heist movie also a good change of genre mixed with superhero.

Guardians of the galaxy walks the same line of silly and comedic but does it so well. It has heart, something that despite the premise of the storyline, Love and Thunder was greatly lacking. Even Antman manages the comedic yet serious tone better.

Take Thor's reunion with Sif, should be heartfelt considering her situation yet topped off with a joke.

Taika is a great filmmaker, but Thor is overall the wrong character for him to take on.

100% serious Thor is bad, wall to wall comedy Thor is also bad. There was no balance.

Thor is/was the last remaining true OG avenger (we don't count Hulk as he is a side character for now) on the big screen, so the centre pillar of the franchise, having your legacy character reduced to mediocre slapstick comedy/joke after joke turns people off because that is not what made the character nor the franchise as popular as it is. The formula has changed too much and if its to last until the planned phase 6 and beyond it need to return closer to its phase 1, 2, and 3 roots.

Infinity war, following on from Ragnarok did Thor as a character justice.

The major difference between Thor/Marvel in general and "any other movie" is that its part of a feanchise and a interconnected grand story, if it does not fit in, it does not work and effects the movies that follow it.

Dire. Marvel just gets sillier and sillier and Thor: Love and Thunder was scratching the bottom of the barrel. It was an intelligence-insulting movie. Puerile.

Can we have some more adult themes please, with real consequences and characters without "plot armour". DC does darker, challenging themes quite well. Marvel seems hellbent on cute and fluffy and it's wearing thin, IMHO.

Yup, by far the weakest film in the series so far. No jokes landed and the plot was all over the place. Bale was wasted as the and guy and it all felt very lazy.

Since End Game, very few of the marvel films have been any good. I liked Shang Chin and the last twenty mins of Spiderman. But everything else has become so boring. It doesn't help that the power levels of everyone now as just over the top

DC goes too far in the other direction. Too dark, not enough lightheartedness, and when they do its out of place.

Marvel had it right in phase 1-2 with the tone, it was balanced and served the majority of viewers, it was damn close to pleasing everyone as much as it could.

I have read them, I grew up reading them, still do from time to time. Quite a few of the much better storylines and comic runs tackle darker and more mature plots. Even for comics.

Gorr the God butcher is a dark storyline, even with the "silliness" of the concept of superheroes it can still walk the line of mature themes without crossing the line in to the 18 rating territory.
