I've just finished reading Bob Mortimer's autobiography 'And Away '
It was interesting and well written. He hold Vic Reeves in very high regard and the chapter devoted to him was longe than the one devoted to his wife. |

A hero for high times (or A young readers guide to the Beats, Hippies, Heads, Freaks, Punks, Ravers, New Age Fellow Travelers & Dog-on-a-Rope Brew Crew Crusties of the British Isles)
By Ian Marchant
It’s a story about the Hippies and other youth and cultural movements for those who weren’t there…. |

"I'm reading my 45th book of the year - it is called 'The soul stealer' by Graham Masterston and literally makes me want to throw up. It is vile"
May I ask what it is about it that is so vile? Curious now ... |

Just picked up Autopsy by Patricia Cornwell one of my favourite writers from my teens.
And Goose Green by Nigel Ely is about the Battle of Goose Green from a personal POV according to the Blurb on the front. Thank goodness for Asda's 2 for £8 |

"Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. It's a reread, and I'm hoping to move straight on to Bring Up the Bodies afterwards, as I've yet to read it. "
Is the TV adaptation (which I loved) up to scratch? |

Not all that North of North London |
Just finished God is Dead, the biography of the Belgian cyclist Frank Vandenbrouke. One of the best books I've ever read, heartbreaking. From great white hope of the sport to dead in roughly 15 years via addiction, doping, infidelity, arrests and suicide attempts.
Next up is Panda Monium about Fierce Panda records |

I'll need to rewatch it to make a proper comparison, but I remember enjoying it. Hopefully they'll be an adaptation of the final book too. |

"Sourcery by Terry Pratchett
I love his books the best Fantasy World / Comedy writer ever!!
Completely agree one hundred percent "
Love Terry Practchett, have you tried Neil Gaimann? Not one of his I haven't loved.
I was a huge Patricia Cornwell fan back in the day

Rabbit Redux by John Updike (the second in the series of Rabbit novels).
I'm aiming to have (re)read all four by the end of the year but the prose is very dense so they're not light reads that you can just pick up and dive into. |

"Heysel Stadium Brussels - Europen Football's Darkest Hour"
For football books I would recommend:
Dynamo: Triumph and Tragedy in Nazi-Occupied Kiev
By Andy Dougan
Quite prescient with current situation in Ukraine.
Or
We Are the Damned United: The Real Story of Brian Clough at Leeds United
By Phil Rostron
And I don’t like football as a sport |

Essex Dogs by Dan Jones. Historical fiction set during the Hundred Years' War and I'm really enjoying it. There's a lot of these things about, pick your period and you can get a 'Sharpe' equivalent most of which are unremarkable. This one is different, it feels fresher, more vibrant and with a melancholic edge. |
