I understand why all this is off but I'd have thought sporting events would be an ideal way of paying respect to the Queen ??

I think calling off sports events is excessive.

A minutes silence and black armbands would have been sufficient

If it's charity events and folk have collected donations, surely that sort of thing should go ahead...

I’m surprised the GNR is going ahead with it being 2 days after she died but I’m glad it is.

Has there been a decision on the boxing yet?

I read they were still weighing in today which I think is wrong if they’re just going to cancel it.

"I’m surprised the GNR is going ahead with it being 2 days after she died but I’m glad it is."

It would be hard for the charities to lose the expected £25 million that’s raised.

They are going to tone it down though.

They’re big advocates of charitable events. I don’t think she’d have wanted something like GNR to be cancelled.

The Proms: Off.

Not happy about that and I don't think she would be either.

You’ll be happy. I can’t imagine doing all that training for it to be cancelled.

I’m glad it hasn’t. Being from the North East I love seeing all the people walking round with their medals and all the posts on social media. I’ll do it one day when I stop being lazy.

All these events postponed - suppliers / employers / sports clubs all out of pocket It's absolute nonsense.

So much for the ...."Keep calm and carry on" spirit.

I thought it was the law that everyone in the north east has to do the great north run at least once! I was conned!! Lol (1hr58!!!)

They said it a half marathon… but you only need to train for 11 miles and the last mile is all downhill!! That’s what they told me to lure me in!!

I am claiming ignorance. Don’t want people thinking I have to do it lol. I live in Hebburn. I would be too tempted to stop lol
