From the land of haribos.

Did you also hear about it? I just heard that charles will succeed queen elizabeth 2nd, the heir to the british throne, he became the king with queen elizabeths 2nd death, he will be in charge of such things as the head of the common wealth among other things. I also want to take this moment to say, what great job the queen have done to represent great britain r.i.p.

I remember the discussion at school, 45 years ago, about what the new era would be called. We went through each name Prince Charles could choose.

If King Charles III lives as long as his mother we have over 20 years in the new Caroline era.

This has been a debate in Wales for a few years. Many want it scrapped especially after Michael Sheen gave up his OBE in protest over the title. I think it'll probably be given this time, but I hope long term it will be abolished.

Because Wales never had kings we had princes. When the English crown executed our last native Prince they then gave the title of Prince of Wales the the heir to the throne. So to some Welsh people, it is viewed as an insult to their heritage.

I don't think it is really evidently however much I may not like it things have to move forward. Wales is now a full kingdom within our country and that needs to be considered when talking about these things.

I'm not so sure because my understanding and from documentaries I've seen Prince Charles was actually very reluctant to take the title because of the things mentioned above about the Welsh wanting the title abolished.

I don't follow you Lorna sorry. That's all I said was that many in Wales would like to see the title scrapped. I didn't mention whether or not Charles wanted it or not.

I never said you did say that but you said you think it will be given this time but abolished in the future and I was giving my reasons as to why I don't think it will be given this time."

Got you, misunderstood

Not automatically

This has been a debate in Wales for a few years. Many want it scrapped especially after Michael Sheen gave up his OBE in protest over the title. I think it'll probably be given this time, but I hope long term it will be abolished.

Why do folks want it abolished?

Because Wales never had kings we had princes. When the English crown executed our last native Prince they then gave the title of Prince of Wales the the heir to the throne. So to some Welsh people, it is viewed as an insult to their heritage.

I think speculation is pointless at this stage too.

True true, it'll be interesting to see what happens. It's a hot topic on my side of the bridge today. But it's going to be interesting, Charles has hinted that things may change once he rules, think it's going to be a fascinating time for those who follow the monarchy.

It will be. You might have noticed that the history of the monarchy is very interesting to me. I look forward to the next chapter "

I have indeed noticed

"Were also quick to forget the videos of our Liz doing the nazi salute as a child or prince Phillip being as SS soldiers funerals "

A 7 year old girl briefly mimicking a popular gesture many years before the horror behind it was known and a 16 year old boy at the funeral of his own sister, two years before the war.

Nope, I haven't forgotten.

"Diana would now be queen if she had not been assassinated, 25 years 9 Days ago.

She wouldn't. They had divorced the year before. She agreed to lose her HRH but would remain Diana, Princess of Wales.

"

How do you assassinate someone in a car crash, shooting them yes, poisoning yes, strangulation yes, carbomb yes but a car crash no too many variables that she would walk away unscathed.

She was only allowed to keep this and the rest of her title's as long as she didn’t remarry

"Think of all the things that will now need to change. Money, stamps, the national anthem.....and most importantly coming to terms with the fact we now have a KING.

And passports"

Royal mail post boxes, at the moment they all have E11R on them so they will have to be changed to C111R.

Although I would like to see it changed so it was Charles 3 post office.

So cast into the letter boxes it could be shortened to C3PO.

"Only decent thing Charles has done has been the Prince's trust which has opened doors for opportunities for people to have a helping hand to succeed in their dreams which has been fantastic "

I’d disagree. Like his father before him - he was banging the drum about conservation, the loss of green spaces, climate change etc well before the majority sat up and took notice. When I was young he was generally thought of as a wierdo for holding views that the vast majority of us nor agree with.

As with the bbc news comment that he’ll now have to stop ‘meddling’ - I don’t see why he should if he firmly believes he’s right. X

Post boxes do not get changed. If you look around you'll find some from King George's reign.

Just my opinion, but I think Charles will come to realise that he is not as loved as much as he thought due to the Diana/Camilla situation. I predict that within a year he will abdicate in favour of William.

He won’t abdicate. They don’t believe in it because of the damage done by Edward VIII’s abdication.

Plus William wouldn’t want to be King while his children are so young, and Charles wouldn’t want his grandchildren to have as little time with their parents as he had with his when he was very young.

He wasn't too popular with some due to the whole beatification nonsense with Diana when it was going on but even then he would have ascended the throne and stayed there irregardless of that..

As predictions go, that's not going to happen..

After watching all the people shouting God save the king, vying to shake his and the Queen consorts hand, and watching the media coverage why does anyone think he won't be adored? Most people have forgotten about the Diana/Camilla situation or at least sanitised it in their minds due to a successful pr campaign. I sometimes wonder if a lot of people actually want to feel that there are people who are their betters who they can look up to and almost worship. It gives them some sort of security and they feel comfort from "knowing their place".
