"How we got the word quarantine.
(Waves hand) Me! Pick me!
G"
During the middle ages there was a small island off Venice where ships had to Dock and stay for 40 days. If they had disease on board it would either kill them or cure them on this island for 40 days. The Italian word for 40 is quaranta and that's how we get quarantine. |

Killer Whales or Orcas are actually Delphinidae ie:- dolphins and porpoises. All delphinids are Cetaceans(whales) and classed as toothed whales or Odontoceti. This means that technically speaking they are whales
Its an apex predator, which means it is at the top of its food chain, has no natural predators and it is most definitely a killer and will kill/eat fish, seals and sea lions, dolphins and porpoises, sharks and rays, larger whales, octopus and squid pretty much anything they can get their teeth into.
So, apologies but: Killer yes. Whale yes |
