Favourite movie director
Jump to: Newest in thread
My all time favourite is probably Spielberg, as there are just too many classics to ignore.
But my current favourites are Jordan Peele and Edgar Wright. Both have flawless filmographies in my opinion.
Which directors do you appreciate? |

Honestly. I think Clint Eastwood has done and continues to make great movies
Also mel Gibson is a complete fruitcake but the guy knows how to make a movie |

And a famous director that the vast majority will never have heard of, but who was a giant of film direction in his heyday:
Alexander McKendrick.
The man in the white suit,
from 1951 was a superb comedy and satire about industrial espionage and innovation in the textiles industry, coupled with fake CVs to obtain employment, educational misfits in business, power structures in companies and in business families, vested business interests stifling innovation and inventiveness, etc.
An excellent film that is still broadcast intermittently on TPTV-Talking Pictures TV, but which you have not heard of.
The sound effects of the experiment within the film is one if the most famous in the 1950s.

"Im surprised nobody has mentioned kevin smith in this list! He is one of my all time favorite directors "
I liked him in the 90s, but don't think most of his films aged well. Clerks is still great though |

"My Top Ten directors
Tarantino
Scorsese
Argento
De Palma
Cronenberg
Miike
Fulci
Lenzi
Romero
Carpenter "
Replace Miike and Cronenberg with Sergio Martino and Ruggero Deodato and that'd be mine.
Honourable mentions for Hitchcock, Godard and Leone. |
