Having seen the Downing Street photos, do you think someone should tell Carrie not to wear black granny pants under a see through dress ?

No I don't think anyone should ever tell a woman what she should or shouldn't wear.

I highly doubt she put that outfit together. She probably had a stylist for the occasion.

And no, if she wants to show off her Knick knacks, then that is her choice.

Has anyone recently commented about what male politicians or male spouses/partners of politicians choose to wear?

Why are women in public view always being judged on their clothing and appearance?

I can't stand Liz Truss' politics, but I guarantee there'll be a quasi-serious article in a daily paper about her shoes, dress or suit etc, before the month is out. Theresa May* was constantly picked on for her clothing and shoes, which pissed me off.

*Not a fan of her politics either

Is there a tall, dark, handsome, slim male politician with a decent sized dick anywhere? Bonus points for a bit geeky. I don't have anything to objectify

People presumably voluntarily put themselves forward for their clothing to be critiqued? The programmes were obviously about clothing choice.

Female politicians and others in the public eye do not ask for such criticism and are usually just trying to do a job. Their job description does not include any need to fulfill certain fashion choices or to put up with constant criticism of their appearance?

"No I don't think anyone should ever tell a woman what she should or shouldn't wear. "

Don't you?

Maybe you should tell my wife (and my mother, who always used to ask me rather than my father for help choosing outfits).

Miniskirt always asks me for fashion advice, and definitely trusts my judgement more than her own.

I generally help choosing her outfits both when shopping and when we're going out.

And she does the same for me.

Sometimes, it actually takes another person to tell you what works for you and what doesn't.

As long as that person isn't a half-arse-fool with no fashion sense, of course.

Don't forget the countless threads objectifying Truss and other female politicians in a manner Jay Inbetweener would be embarrassed about

Which wives? Unless husbands are happy to be "told" what to wear, that shouldn't happen either.

You very rarely see any media critique of the dress, shoes, appearance of male people who are in the public eye. The unkempt hair of our now-former PM was sometimes mentioned, but nowhere near as often as female politicians are critiqued for their outfit, shoes, tights, make up, hair, handbag etc.

Asking advice and telling/instructing without soliciting it, are very different things.

I ask my husband for his opinion on my clothing, yes. He doesn't get up in the morning and tell me that I must not wear X or I must wear Y.

Absolutely, she's worn it in public so it's obviously justified to be scrutinised by the entire world.

It's not an experience we've had, to be honest.

I love what my husband wears. I had to stop myself gawping at how handsome he looked in his suit, while we were in a meeting at work yesterday.

To be fair his scruffy clothes especially the un ironed shirts and collars used to get mentioned a lot....but I get what you mean, women do get more scrutiny.

However if you are going to wear a see through dress with black drawers showing people are going to mention it
