"I thought meet meant sex and social meant drink "

Oh I thought meet meant meet

As in two people who are apart coming together and speaking.

That is what I have always considered as meeting someone

When we have meetings at all at work nobody expects to have sex

Playing for example is often used for fucking....not going down the park with your mates as it used to mean as a child. Or playing football (although some balls may be used)

I guess a lot of people are thinking I should accept that when guys say they want to meet, it means they want sex.

Yeah! That is ok… lesson learnt. I was perhaps being too pedantic.

I shall proceed with this rather presumptuous vernacular stored in my mind and please forgive me for any negative vibes given out

I guess I should change my profile though cos I am sure it says I am happy to meet any guy.

And I am but I am not prepared to have sex with “any” guy…

Meet can mean both sex or the usual real world meaning.

But if I said let's meet, and someone says I'm going to be in XYZ pub, I'll reframe my expectations to social

As would I!

At last some ( in my opinion ) wisdom.

When I have said let’s meet in cuz bar, I have had guys say to me “where can we have sex in there?”

I mean I love being naughty, don’t get me wrong, I just sometimes find the assumption that a guy is going to get sex troubling

Maybe I shouldn’t be on this site… or maybe I should just keep my thoughts to myself

If they FAF they get told off.....

If they 'meet with expectation' they get told off..

We need a code....

Someone draw up a code...

I think there is an unspoken code on fab, sort of......

In my experience fab speak is:

meet = expectation of sex, unless it isn't

social = meet up for a drink/coffee (might also lead to sex unless it doesn't)

Socials = meeting at a public venue with a few like minded people (might later hook up with someone for sex or noy)

Playing = having sex/sexual play (as opposed to playing on the swings and slides in a children's play park for example)

Usually you can work it out through messaging as to what people want/expect.

That's true. But if I said meet and someone said pub/let's get to know each other, I'd default to social as my expectation or attempt to clarify.

I am happy to start with intelligent and witty conversation in which we sound each other out and see if there is that elusive spark. If we keep chatting, see how things unfold. We may just stay chat buddies even fab friends because we have things in common. Meets are difficult territory, I am amenable to a social, as in a no expectation of sex social, purely because I think I would enjoy your company and we could have a laugh. That is never a problem in the real world, although on fab it seems it is?

I think you have hit on a very valid point.

In the old world, meeting in bars would firstly require some introductory banter and an exchange of mutual attraction signals, which would or could lead to a more intimate relationship.

In the fab world, often. Though by no means always ( there are more fabsters on this site who really are very thoughtful and considerate than there are… oh let’s just call them arseholes ) but often that initial pause to reflect is neither offered or accepted.. it is just “here I am, get on your knees and open your mouth!”

Not that I am averse to that, if I have agreed it but that it seems the expected default by some troubles me

Some people want meat.

Some people want meet.

Easy to find out before leaving the sofa.
