It may be because English isn't your first language.
English is my second language so if it's really bad I get sad, but I'm not perfect and am often multi tasking so can be careless x
It's really sad when you see the profile and think, oh I would ... |

"Its the ones that mix up 'have' and 'of' that drive me bananas."
I mite of dun that wunce or twice
None of the above make me mad, but I am anal about it and do notice mis-spellings and bad grammar - can't help it and depending on the wince factor, it could be a contributory factor to my response but only at a low level...my normal response is "Sorry you're not my type. Happy swinging" rather than "Sorry your badly spelled profile and basic grammar errors mean I couldn't bring myself to suck your cock/lick your pussy/take it up the arse from you. Happy swinging"
I'm still traumatised over misplacing an apostrophe in a post the other day that I didn't notice in time to delete and retype - think I got away with it though as I had no abusive messages from grammar nazis like myself.
Oh and speaking of niggles...it's ARSE, not ASS - we're Brits |

Not at all, it's about making an effort, it's about how you present yourself, specially if you're on a sex site and you're trying to impress people. It doesn't have to be 100% perfect or correct but some people clearly don't give a shit about the image they portray... this is true for the way they write, the way they describe themselves and the pictures they display. |

If this really bothers you perhaps it is time to reassess the things to which you grant importance in life?
I find the written word beautiful; this is mainly due to images and emotions it can evoke.
An extensive vocabulary can provide a vast array of colours, grammar can be the mixing palette to provide fluidity, but essentially it is up to the individual's free choice and creativity as to what they decide to draw.
There is a time in life when I would prefer to admire a doodle than peruse the frescoes of the sistine chapel.
How can we appreciate the beauty of light unless it is juxtaposed to darkness?

One of the senior managers where I used to work sent out an email with all those mistakes and more in it.
Someone printed it, corrected all mistakes in red and marked it "5/10 must try harder" and pinned it to his office door |

Yeah, effect / affect
insure / ensure etc -
these are fairly simple concepts to grasp, though I do work with people with learning difficulties etc, so can fully appreciate the problems that many have.
I'd probably have problems with long term dating of someone who didn't have the cognitives to be able to grasp some clear meanings. As for fucking, I won't care if you speak dirty and get the occasional errors. |

Well how can u get at people for not being as clever in the use and understanding of language. It doesn't come easy to everyone, we are all different!
Accept diversity! Makes the world a better place.. U accuse strangers of not making an effort when they could just be the way they were brought up and didn't get a good education or they have a low IQ
Sorry but this is a sore point.. I work with vulnerable adults and none of them should miss out on anything in life just cos of the physical or mental disability they have! Yet a lot of people are shooting others down for not being as smart as them.. Disgusting

Sometimes I just get confused, I am not dyslexic nor a low IQ, I just get confused and probably a bit lazy having spell check on my pc but not on my phone.
If I can read what others have posted, and I am interested, I really don't care too much about their grammar.
However, I can understand people who have a different first language, as they may struggle to understand it.
I dunno, just playing devil's doo dah. |

I'm pretty sure there are very, very, very few vulnerable adults on here. For a few reasons not least their maturity levels dictate fascinations with other interests that aren't sex.
I think you are confusing the point between people who are unable to survive independently, those with a possible learning difficulty, and those who either don't give a shit or are just cannot be arsed or bothered to use English in a way that it had not been dragged up |

Yh I'm sure there is only a few vulnerable adults, but I'm sure there are plenty who aren't clever with language in the same way some people can't grasp learning to play an instrument or balance on a tightrope, we are all made differently, that's my point. People should respect diversity.

As for text speak, when I see people gripe I just wander if these people realise they are becoming their parents! Back when everyone was young times moved on, things changed, yet I bet their parents used to come out with the same sort of moaning over it! Like "in my day girls wouldn't dare wear such short skirts" or "why do people use the word cool, its so lame" etc
Times move on.. The more it moves the more things become socially accepted.. If times didn't change we would all still live incaves beating our woman with clubs and saying ug! |

Diversity doesnt include reducing language to a disposable nappy. Many a good thing has come through language as has diversity, but never have language and diversity been tied together in such a bare thread way to express matters of inclusion for those who are illiterate, other than the use of text speech. It's basic English.
That is after all, what we are talking about. This stuff isn't higher educational language. It is basic language, that built prose that has born their own independence from many a country, not to be spouted up for diverity issues!.
Not being bothered is what it comes down to; not being bothered to turn up to priamry school more to the point.
If you show me an employer that respects the diversity you are concerned about, as you state: short skits or text speech, then ill show you someone claiming dole for that same reason.
There is no reason to move on - there is no reason to accept broken English. Besides the very obvious writing on the box; that people who do write this way, dont get very many meets.
Tally ho! I hope you have fun communicating and corresponding with them Brenda, after all women dont need intellect to be taken to the bedroom, they just need to spread their legs! ... Thats what I'm always hearing anyway - aye????? |

No, no, no the sentence was started with a capital (FFS - Is it me). It was not ended with a question mark but several exclamation marks. It was not a question but a shout of frustration. |

Couple of observations from me...
English is not my first language either and perhaps that is why we spot the difference? I know I was taught English through rules and grammar in a formal way rather than my native tongue which I picked up as I grew up.
Secondly, it is well known that dyslexic people do not necessarily struggle with difficult, polysyllabic words but with the so called "easy" ones.
I spot the errors.. but I see the person, the content of their post more than the spelling.

It's pure laziness, nothing more, nothing less. And don't pull the dyslexic card out because if that's the case, then at least 75% of fab is dyslexic! "
That is a good point actually. I thnk for some people spelling has perhaps not the priority that it has for others, I agree. But there are quite a few where I am thinking that maybe dyslexia is at play? |

"its so irritating isn't it but also effect and affect. I don't understand why people can't make the effort to get the grammar and punctuation correct.
nice profile by the way x"
I always thought you started a sentence with a capital letter?
These are the posts that wind me up more.
More often than not the protaganist who moans tends to get it wrong themselves and end up looking more foolish.
I personally couldn't give a shit who can spell, we all have differing levels of intelligence which is what makes us unique as people.
Now, pick away at my spelling/grammar because I couldn't give a fuck. |

"More annoying is txt spk innit...I can't stand it. It's lazy, rude and I won't go near it...innit vo...oh and when people say 'I'm arksing you', or end a statement with an upward inflection, like they are asking a question, and those who use 'like' like
Oh what a prime example of what I just said lol
I wander what ur parents used to pull u up on in ur day? Ur fashion? Ur attitude? New words u used? But now those things from ur day are prob just accepted now lol
It's not about becoming your parents...it's about respecting the art of communication and the beauty of the language. If you can't say what you mean then how do you expect to be taken seriously?"
But is someone from 200 years ago came and read how u write now they would be shocked at how you don't use the beauty and art of grammar and communication!
Look how different things were in shakespeare day for example.. Times change.. |

But we aren't all good at the art of drawing or painting, so why expect everyone to be good at the art of communication! We are all different.. Respect that

intelligence insults judgments...
how easy is is to be more embarrassed by those who deem themselves better than others..than those with not the best grammatical prowess?- its fucking VERY easy
*I'm sure whoever is reading this understands it perfectly well..despite grammatical errors.I'd certainly be able to poshly and plainly be able to say "I dont give a fuck", without sounding like an idiot. Its pretty easy to see some people are also luddites to language, refusing its changing nature in this modern day.Ok dont like it...that is fair enough...but there really isnt any need for assuming because ur unable to communicate as well as these others can with eachother , that its made u superior in any way.

Yh as long as those in the minority of the grammar police realise how full of self importance they make themselves llok.. This is plain talking on the internet, not a letter to the queen! why should someone who isn't so good at spelling and grammar spent 4 times longer on what they type just to make sure it is all correct..?
Not being lazy, being realistic as they just want to communicate not spend all their time checking errors.. |
