"A quick survey to gather information of no empirical value...
Who else has had a traditional Sunday Roast today?
Be it beef, pork with crackling (Mmmmm), chicken, vegetarian option."

"Not had yet, but shall be having roast chicken later this evening
How about yourself OP?"

Thank you for asking, I had roast pork with all the trimmings* plus the obligatory crackling. That satisfying crunch from the crackling is always inexpressible.
[ *Why do they call it "trimmings"? ] |

"Nope.... also....
You asked 2 hours ago? What time do you eat?!!
Surely Sunday roast is 4/5pm "

A fair point. By 4pm I'm usually finishing off my crème brûlée, and by 5 I'm on the Port and coffee. |

Not quite a traditional roast. We had sausages with ours. Combination of a fussy child and forgetting to take the chicken out yesterday. Was lush though and had birthday cake to follow!

A friend of mine said she cooked a leg of lamb last week and with the oven on for 2 and a half hours..Checked her smart meter and told me it cock a fiver!
That has certainly discouraged me from doing a Sunday dinner... |

I think it comes from a time when vegetables were just used for decoration mostly, but I could very well be totally wrong lol

My slow cooker costs 17p an hour, even for a four or five hour cook it's quite reasonable. At the moment. |
