What would your occupation be if you had followed your childhood dreams?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I don't know if I'm unusual or not but I had no childhood dreams about the future. I literally lived for the moment. Of course I had an imagination and dreams of things I'd like to do but none of them extended past the school holidays or Christmas really. If I could go back knowing what I know now I'd probably have moved to Europe, worked to be able to support myself at a job where I liked the people or gained a trade that I could use anywhere. |

"Librarian. Sigh.
Because I'm a Libra I always use to think that meant I had to be a Librarian. I was not a happy child because of this. "
I'm a Scorpio. That's a scary theory. |

I never had a clue! All through school and even into college, no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was pushed down the teaching route because I was good at the traditional academic subjects, despite my protestations that I don't like children and most certainly didn't want to spend all day with dozens of them
Now, I wish I'd trained to be a vet. |

I always wanted to be a nurse, I became a nurse. I had to put my career on hold when separated from my girls dad, as one is severely disabled. Eventually she’ll move to supported living, then I might pursue teaching, as that was my other dream career, and my other degree is English, or go back into nursing xx |

Firefighter, when I told the careers teacher they just laughed and said ‘no chance you’re wearing glasses’
In the 80’s teachers didn’t care too much about their pupils feelings or letting me down gently, it’s dream on or you’re too thick. |

A carpenter like my dad.
Or a mechanic like an uncle.
I spent a lot of my childhood years either in my uncles garage or my dads workshop.
I still have and use the coffee table I made out of re-claimed floorboards for my ‘A’ level woodwork exam. |
