Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I heard half of the discussion on Woman's Hour about the Seven Deadly Sins. They were written by a man, Pope Gregory I around AD 600.
The seven are: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.
The discussion was about what the modern sins would be. That's the bit I missed.
So, over to the Fab Forum - what do you think should be on the modern sin list? |

On March 9, 2008, the vatican newspaper published a list of seven modern social sins. The list appeared in an interview with Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti, who suggested they were "new sins which have appeared on the horizon of humanity as corollary to the unstoppable process of globalization." [CNN] Although not meant as an official shift in policy on what actions are most likely to earn you a front-row seat in the roasting racks of the eternal rotisserie of damnation, the Modern Sins are consistent with Pope Benedict XVI's hardline stance in confronting what he judges to be the moral equivocation in secular society.
In some cases, the media erroneously reported this list as a modernized replacement for the original seven, occasionally attributing them directly to the Pope.
The Modern Social Sins are:
destroying the environment
genetic manipulation
obscene wealth
creating poverty
drug trafficking
immoral scientific experimentation
violation of the fundamental rights of human nature

Hmm, I think the old ones were catchier and a bit easier to remember...! |

That's an interesting list. I wonder how you decide something is an immoral scientific experiment or violating the rights of human nature, or does that shift with time too? |

I could stick probes into your brain and press a buzzer every time you went to buy shoes to see if my intervention had a lasting effect. Or, I could find the gene for shoe buying and change it to make it do the washing up instead. |

Apparently according to certain forum posters they are as follows:
Not replying to messages within 5 minutes
Posting pics with sky remotes
Using 20 yr old photos
Cancelling meets at short notice cos the cat has the flu
Saying no
One liner messages
And
Time wasting!!
Personally I feel the more sin there is - the better!!! |

Thou shall not:
1 - carrying emotional baggage from one relationship to the next like.
2 - breed children you cannot afford to have.
3 - blame everyone else for not doing something about it yourself.
4 - seek sympathy from those who can't tell you have fuck all to moan about.
5 - Boil bunnies
6 - appear desperate
7 - avoid reality |

It's nice to know were given the list of sins from the catholic church who for me are the biggest sinners ever!
They spread there religion round the world killing all who didn't fit in with their twisted way off thinking.
All the trouble we have today with the Muslim world can be placed at their door , if there is a heaven there won't be many catholics there ! |
