Do you intend hibernating in bed all winter? The moment you step off, ouch

New PJs and socks would be cheaper

But yes, new bedding day is one of the few things nicer than clean sheets day.

Waste of money. Winter is now as cold as Autumn used to be. Autumn is now an extended summer, then there's spring. Mild winter - Spring - Summmmmmmmmmmmer.

I want to get a bed for my living room which can double as a sofa - rather than a sofa which turns into a bed, if you see what I mean.

Any Ikea experts know of a suitable product? preferably a suitable height off the floor for doing interesting things over a firm edge.

I saw one in Dunelm but it was not for sale, they were using it to display cushions.

Get a large chaise longue. Google is your friend as not sure Ikea do anything but 'day beds'.
