Weekly Mental Health Check-in 29.08.22
Jump to: Newest in thread
Good morning all - I’m a bit later than usual posting this since I didn’t have to set an alarm today and coupled with an early night I got a much needed almost 12hrs of sleep . I’m feeling better for it.
I’ve been ok, shaky in the mornings so have been taking a tablet when I notice it and then I’m mostly good for the rest of the day.
Got a new surgery date for my son and within an hour, despite feeling mentally ok, my physical anxiety symptoms started - it just shows how powerful the u*conscious (the forum doesn’t allow the full word!) mind is. This was the point I also realised how much better my anxiety had been since the surgery was cancelled.
Had a busy few days which is good because I’ve realised how much better I am when I’m busy and distracted.
How are you today? |

Hi OP glad to hear you are getting there.
Personally I'm always feeling lonely and sometimes depressed but after all the years I have learned to live with it. I was looking forward to retirement but that has been shelved due to the cost of living gone sky high. So I will just carry on regardless |

Have a huge desire to just isolate myself and not go out or communicate with anyone but forcing myself through it
Not sure if I can change what needs to change to make me feel even a little bit better
Need some new distractions |

Hi OP and regular posters and readers. Had another strange week for emotions. Definitely influenced by the weird behaviour of others. I so often take the stance, it’s not them it’s me, but this time I’m aware it’s not me, it’s them!
That said I made a new friend on another site and have dragged him over here.
I got muted on the forum for 48 hours this week! I giggled but I accept I did a bad thing. Even tho my intentions were right.
Sleep has been horrific and I’ve had to work hard to flip back into daytime mode.
Biggest failure was attempting to go back to work yesterday (I’ve been off with the bad ankle injury) but somehow my pass has been locked out and I need to do a course to get it unblocked. Next course weds! So no work for me yesterday or today.
Hugs to all in need x |

I’m sorry your plans have had to change, I imagine that would be pretty disappointing . Hopefully things won’t stay so tough for long for all of us x |

Good effort on resisting isolation, it can be so tempting can’t it? Hope you can manage to find some good enough distractions soon x |

Hello you!
The work situation sounds like a nuisance! Not long to wait though.
As far as other people go it’s always good to remember that people project out what’s going on inside them! Hope you manage to get some decent sleep soon x |

I hope your grounding techniques help you with the upcoming surgery anxiety Lou x
I have had a mental 4 day weekend and although I enjoyed every single second of it, it's time to come back down to reality.
So lots of meditation planned for tomorrow over the different individual senses, so I can pull myself together and focus on getting back to work and the new challenges it presents

Hi Lou, i hope you have a good week and everything is ok xx
I've had a dreadful week, as has hubby, but he's agreed to phone the docs and get an appointment, he even took half a day off work last week, we went out to eat cake, and seems to have agreed to take tomorrow off work, i'm so pleased.
We have some dreadful family trauma but are being supported by our daughter and her family, i want to keep them safe and stress free though. We also have a few very close friends who are supporting us too. We are very thankful |

Having to constantly kick myself up the arse to stop myself going sideways. The reliance on others for things like getting showered and the inability to get up/down to the loo is just frustrating and embarrassing. |

Enjoy your meditation day! I’ve signed up for a gong bath in September! Not sure how much I believe in it but going with an open mind to see x |

My other half had a phone call appointment with our GP a few days ago who was great, given medication and given the info to get counselling.
I had a phone call appointment today, same GP, increase in medication and also given the info for counselling.
Our GP had clearly remembered hubby telling him the problems and he was great at helping us |

"Its sad but lovely knowing im not alone in this, i wish you all a good and cheerful day x
Always some lovely people here on this thread for support if you need it. Sending love x" much appreciated, know will always be with me/us but can control and help it sometimes. Life can be crap on days but we all have to look to the positives as there are so many, its a shame that our brains tend to concentrate on the negatives. Lots of love people |

Absolutely, and it can be exhausting sometimes fighting against it. Acceptance is good though I think! x |

Glad you are doing better.
As someone who's been at the worst possible point and the highest dose of medication. I've definitely been worse.
But since a much needed holiday abroad in a hot country with a new group or mates. I've never felt so good.
Only downside they live down south so can't alway see them.
Energy levels for me have been hit and miss but that's down to a health issue. Medication side effects mostly.
I've never felt better mentally and I'm hoping it stays this way. |
