Apparently the downpours after the drought caused raw sewerage to be pumped into the sea... The Water Board say that it's either pumped into the sea or come up in our toilets.. who is complaining..?
The French are up to their old tricks.. moaning about the English pumping raw sewerage into the English channel.
It's called the English channel for a reason..
What's going on here guys ? |

We're moaning here in Hastings. We had a big protest on Friday, it was all over the news Tom . It's caused local businesses to lose money, families can't use the beach, regular swimmers can't swim, the Hastings fishing industry has been affected, we rely on tourism to boost the economy in this area and this has kept people away. It's not a new thing, it's been going on for years but kept under wraps.
I don't blame the French for complaining it's an absolute disgrace |

If they get fined it might spur them on into building more treatment works.
We'd have to pay for it, but the sea wouldn't have as much crap in it.
Not human crap, anyway.
There's an island of wet wipes on the Thames that needs dealing with too. |

Water companies need to sort their shit out, once it's done the pan it's their responsibility after all..
Government are piss poor at any enforcement, profit sadly is above public health and others businesses suffering..

"Where else can they put it?
"
They should be treating it before it goes into the sea. Last year after several 'accidental' spills a whole section of the beach and coast path was shut, tankers were deployed 24/7 to ferry the sewage to another treatment plant. |

How would we know they’re English fish? Has anyone checked they’ve got the correct documentation? |

See if you can find any of the recent TV interviews with Fergal Sharkey (Yes, him from The Undertones band).
Very knowledgeable, passionate, articulate and hugely insightful and what is pretty much theft/fraud by the water companies- who have the fucking cheek to then blame us and the environment for the problem |

This^^^^^
It is about the "raw" = untreated sewage being pumped into rivers and the sea, whether you called it The Channel or La Manche, does not really matter.

Water companies are too focused on giving their shareholders and CEO's all the money we pay them rather than invest in the crumbling infrastructure.
They won't do anything until it's too late and then they'll hike the prices up and bend us all over. |

The water companies should plough the millions they make back into the system and have better sewage treatment plants. Our land is scattered with landfills and the sea with shit. The air polluted and acid rainfall. And we are planning to colonise Mars WTF |

It's shameful that holidaymakers in peak season must bathe in sewage on our beaches. But even in normal times, Water Companies are discharging a toxic mix into our waterways. Solubles like urine, salts, sugars, chemicals, drugs don't get removed - only the solids. |

The gullible population here were sold a pup and have done nothing about it. Our own assets were sold off on the cheap, without due regulation, so that we could be ivercharged for an essential need - water - whilst £billions were siphoned off to privlate entities, as next to nothing was invested by them. All whilst millions of gallons of raw sewage has been pumped into our rivers, beaches and coast.
You couldn't make it up! Too right that France is complaining . Some people here probably think that turning the UK into a huge sewage farm is the right thing . Truss voted against restrictions on this
We get what we sow. |
