Sebastian Suski, who was born in Poland but now lives in Britain, grew the huge vegetable to an extraordinary length of 3 feet and 8.6 inches and eclipsed the previous benchmark by 2.5 inches.
Suski told Guinness World Records: "I'd grown big cucumbers but never quite long enough to beat the existing Guinness World Records title holder."
The gardener also thanked his wife Renata for helping him break the record as she cared for the cucumber when he was hospitalised with a leaking blood vessel in his head.
Suski recalled: "Doctors found a leaking blood vessel in my head and so I spent a week in hospital.
"But luckily my wife, Renata, was on hand to care for the cucumber and keep her well-watered and nourished.
Well lots of cucumber in their sandwiches..... |

I never realised cucumbers have a gender"
I suppose if it's your own cucumber you can refer to it what you want. |
