Times of very hard and there are lots of food shortages and food poverty.
I'm not exactly sure if it's due to this but the government are looking for tenders for people to provide ration packs from next April.
Could we go back to rationing?
It is a little worrying. Personally my shopping bill has skyrocketed as I'm sure has many,, and I can't always find the foods that I want available.
I'm not posting this to scare people or cause any trouble, I'm genuinely interested if this is potentially what might be happening. Here is the link to the government website.

The tender is for the MOD. They will be for operational use, MRE day packs. Used for soldiers and military personnel when in the field.
However, with the supply chain in the state it's in, I can see purchase limits being imposed on some higher ticket food items before long. |

I did predict on another thread someone will bring up ration coupons, stiff upper lip and ww2 community spirit up. One put of three so far isn't bad although the other too have been muted to be fair |

This. Its for military use not general population.
Lot 1:- 24 Hr General Purpose Rations, including ethnic and religious rations, Single Meal Rations and Enhanced Rations
Lot 2:- 10 Man Rations
Lot 3:- 24 Hr Cold Climate Rations & Emergency Survival Rations

Did you struggle to get any? Despite the mad rush I found there were always some, somewhere. Btw they did put a limit to how many as they did a short while ago to bottles of oil when everybody panicked that olive oil was going to disappear. All supermarkets around here had a limit of 2 |
