Let's get sweaty with it.

I sweat.

A lot.

It's fucking embarrassing and most of the time I don't know why it happens.

I sweat when I'm hot, when my heart beats about 1 beat faster than usual, when I'm stressed out, anxious etc etc.

I've found ways to deal with it on nights out etc that I won't go into but the one place where I feel like it's the biggest problem is the one place you're actually supposed to sweat: the fucking gym.

I'd actually started avoiding sessions if they're held by one particular trainer because he always makes comments about how sweaty I get. Then I kinda got over it because like, you're supposed to sweat when you exercise right? But today I went back after a 3 week break and started dripping just from the warm-up. One of the girls quietly asked me if I wanted her to put the big industrial fan on, and bless her she went over and pretended it was for her.

I don't know if it's because I was away from that environment for a while but yeah it's starting to get to me again, especially because it's other people that notice it

Any other drippy bitches that feel my pain on here?? How do you deal?

Na na na na na

Getting sweaty with it.

Now that's out the way, there are medical products available to help with sweating. But at the gym? Don't worry about it. People are there to sweat, it's nothing to feel embarrassed about at all. And anyone who comments on it, just reply I'm sweating out the bad energy coming from you.

I do.

I get exactly the same sweatiness and have done all my life. Over the years I've learned to live with it and accept that it happens. On those occasions it happens when I'm out, I just try to stay calm and let it pass, and it always does pass. The natural cooling/evaporation kicks in and the sweatiness passes.

On the plus side, I did know a lady that enjoyed me sweating. Sadly she got married and moved away

Glad you got the reference

Yeah when I was young and stupid I tried that super chemical shit that's supposed to stop you sweating for like 48 hours but I put it on my face (which was the stupid part) - it's not really body sweat that's an issue, more face and hair?! Anyway it didn't do anything apart from give me red skin for the next few days.

And I appreciate the suggestion but I can't really be sarky with it when they're still being nice. No one's been mean, it's just the fact they're noticing it that makes me feel super self conscious. Sometimes I try to pre-emptively make self deprecating jokes about it but that feels awkward too.

I believe there is surgery that can help. Basically they cut some of the nerves but that's always felt a bit extreme to me.

Sorry read that wrong, I meant if people said something in a nasty way. They might just be being nice or can see you look uncomfortable and just trying to help but I get it's awkward. We are all too self conscious sometimes but most people wouldn't look twice at it I promise you. Just focus on yourself and try to put it to the back of your mind.

I wear tight gym clothes I find it more comfortable and I only notice then my neck face and hands getting sweaty which I just towel off. A headband helps too and I wear my hair up. You’re at the gym so obviously you’re sweaty

La la land

I going to offer the other point of view. I tend not to sweat, except the small of my back. And it means I overheat and find it difficult to exercise in a really warm studio. I'm more likely to faint than sweat.

Anyone making comments is an idiot. It's your bodies way of cooling down and is perfectly normal. Plus as my dance teacher says sweat is sexy makes your skin glisten.

Me! I even did when I lost shedloads of weight many years ago so I think it’s hormonal for me. My mum is the same. Mostly face and hair (damn my fringe!)

It’s only gotten worse now I’m peri menopausal. Winter is slightly better, but only slightly.

Also, just finished the gym, drenched, haven’t read the whole thread but incase it hadn’t been mentioned

The people that matter don’t care if your sweaty. We’re proud your working hard

The very few that do care/notice your sweat, don’t fucking matter. Anyone that judges other people trying to better themselves is a grade A fucking loser. And you better believe if I see anyone in the gym belittling people trying to work hard, I’m gonna do my best to belittle them and get them thrown out

You do you. Work hard, sweat hard, enjoy the results, and anyone looking at you the wrong way can be added to your real life block list

Have you spoken to your doctor? I was diagnosed with hyperhydrosis when I was a teenager. The only treatment they offered me at the time was a prescription antiperspirant that made me scratch my armpits until they bled. Apparently botox injections help, but I was told they were too expensive and my condition wasn't severe enough for them to be offered as a treatment option. I learnt to live with it, but it is getting worse since I became perimenopausal, and I believe there are now more treatment options available.

I’m similar in the gym. I’m not really a sweaty person normally but one set of squats has me soaked through. I’ve sort of rearranged my workouts so I’m in front of the air con and fans after every heavy exercise.

I do get a bit paranoid with it but I just take a towel with me and remember that 99% of people in the gym aren’t even looking at others.

Delightful Bliss

Mines hormonal and worse since hitting menopause, I just avoid triggers for the stress sweating and heat for body sweating.

Dove maximum protection stick was a life saver for me and stopped my armpit sweating, I do have a good cleansing/moisturising routine as for them as well, to avoid blocked pores

I sweat much more as I've got older, but I'm nowhere near as fit as I use to be and maybe its my body telling me I'm fucked! Everybody sweats for different reasons, for some its natural, for others its lifestyle choices I.e heavy smoker, bad diet, not enough exercise etc...I'm sure the more your heart gets use to working harder the less sweat your body will produce but I'm no doc.

I was told it can be a good sign that you are well hydrated

I get very sweaty when I go climbing, to the point I can feel beads rolling down my legs.

Sweating profusely can be a sign of fitness. Your sweat is the bodies way of cooling you down, and it will start doing this quicker when your body expects exercise is imminent.
